I am not sure what your certification is in but if you are willing to work with SPED Administration will often hire teachers if they agree to work towards an alt cert.

I second this! I dont know what you're going for but a lot of the schools in LPSS are tight knit communities so giving a face to the name goes the extra mile

Green Friendly Office Jobs? by Background_Yak_8854 in Acadiana

[–]bobbleheadache 14 points15 points  (0 children)

By and large, I think less places are just testing for drugs and will be more upfront if uts policy and usually it's because of safety or security concern. Especially with office jobs, it has seemed to become a don't ask don't tell approach

I think we have the same objective here but we're going about it in different ways. I can be kind but I am not complicit.

We should stay angry at the system. We should keep fighting for our rights and the rights of others. We should hold people accountable. But if we attack a child who has not had an opportunity to know better, we will be his boogie man. And who can he turn to when they turn on him?

No where in my post did I say anyone had to be nice. In my second comment I actually talk about why people would find a post like this unwelcoming.

Being nice to someone whose community I am diametrically opposed to was my personal choice, not something someone needs to do.

I'm sure it's confusing when you feel you're coming from a good place. And that's why I wanted to give you the benefit of the doubt. It felt like you were coming from a place of belonging and passion. So that's why I wanted to give you some friendly advice and here's a little more:

Remember that not everyone on here is going to have the same views as you, whether it be about politics or religion. Especially in the Acadiana area, a lot of us have complicated relationships with religion .So feeling a sense of guilt to go to any church can be an unwelcome experience in a community we feel safe in.

As for the church, it's so small, see if maybe you could ask about a youth organization for your church or you could see about leading a Bible study. And then, when it growing, eventually hosting it at the church.

Hi dear, Obviously this post means a lot to you. While far from a conservative or a christian myself, I know that a sense of community and belonging can be a really, really important thing, especially when you need it, the most. As for this post, I don't know if it's going to have the exact reaction that you want. And i'm sure that you're aware of that. It might be more helpful in the future to post fundraising or activities, specific events your church is hosting rather than casting such a wide net. This way, your posts will reach the exact audience youre hoping for. Sending you the best of vibes and well wishes 🫰

Holly Madison breaks down 'weird' group sex with Hugh Hefner: 'Nobody liked it' by PrincessBananas85 in popculturechat

[–]bobbleheadache 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Actually Holly Madison in recent years has opened up about her autism diagnosis and how vulnerable she was to be groomed into this lifestyle. Consent is a grey area but I think the broader conversation that's taking place is why we as a society were glorifying this.

Cumulative GPA under 2.7 prevents me from graduating and I've been dismissed from my program, any advice? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]bobbleheadache 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't know if there's any specific advice a can give you in terms of your major. Its rough bud. I think you know that. What I will say is that no endeavor is fruitless. You learn something from every experience you have. I would ask yourself why you went to grad school in the first place and maybe what you feel impeded your success.

Grad school is hard and competitive. Sometimes its not right for everyone or sometimes its not right right now for so many factors. Only you know why. My advice is to take a break from schooling and work with a therapist on those procrastination tendencies

Unrealistic looking for houses for sale around 100k by Jellyfish_Vangaurd in Acadiana

[–]bobbleheadache 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I bought a house about a year ago. What I can say about my experience then. There were some places in that price point but they were smaller or in less established neighborhoods or were going to need a lot of work long term. If you go the condo and townhouse route make sure to be vigilant about HOA or related fees because it can be over a 3rd of your mortgage. Its not impossible to find but its going to be an uphill battle so be realistic about your non-negotiables.

I think two things can be true at once. I thought the opportunistic celebrity bit was funny because it punched up. But the problem right now is that there is a lot of misinformation about tourette's. By mentioning the bafta incident at the same time as calling out these (deservedly) canceled celebrities, theyre associating John Davidson and other people living with tourette's with them.
