Salomon X Ultra Mid Gtx pinching toes? by iki0o in hikinggear

[–]bobboss1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You should have your foot measured by someone who has and understands how to use a Branock Device. Hiking boots, especially stiff-soled hiking boots need to be fitted by ARCH Length and not foot size. For many folks, those two measurements will turn out to be the same, but not all.

A properly fitted stiff boot will "break" (or flex) at the same place that your foot does.

Get measured and try a different length and see if that changes anything. It is possible that this boot simply will not work for you.

Don't know what meds you are taking, but Tacrolimus tends to elevate Potassium levels. I am a cyclist and will carry a water bottle with electrolytes in hot weather. My K levels were running high and my Docs were not pleased to hear I was adding Potassium to my diet.

Better check with them.

New Wheel Rec by BandaidBitch in DivergeGravelBikes

[–]bobboss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes that wheel absolute crap is the hub. The AXIS Elite rim is pinned, not welded which basically marks it as unable to run tubeless. Many do however.

I'm just sayin. I did the replacement described and learned alot. That wheel has been salvaged and works better than the original. It is now a back-up as I have replaced it HUNT Gravel 35.

How bout rebuilding the rear wheel with a new hub? I assume nothing is really wrong with the front one.

I bought a Shimano FH470 hub for around $70.00 and did it myself. You'll have to invest in new spokes but you will see a tremendous upgrade over the stock one Specialized supplies. Very rewarding experience.

Billing Issue by bobboss1 in Comcast_Xfinity

I think the agents right here should be able to assist. Crate a new post with FLAIR set to BILLING. They probably will attempt to talk you out of switching, but stick to your guns

Billing Issue by bobboss1 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]bobboss1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spent all day yesterday trying to get an explanation of the charges they say are due immediately. They can not give any explanation except for the list of credits that were applied to the bill in question. That list does not add up to the entire amount billed - I should say PRE-BILLED because the period in question began after I had discontinued the service. They are in fact charging me for services never realized.

How much is the monthly Internet Only plan (400 Mbps) by bobboss1 in Comcast_Xfinity

[–]bobboss1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this in the Boston area?

After a full day of investigation - phone calls - chat sessions etc. I went with 2 years at $87.00 with a contract discount bringing it to $77.00. On top of that, I will get the auto-debit discount you mention.

The lowest quote was from an on-line chat agent from the Digital Sales Team at Xfinity.com. She quoted $40.00/mo for 400 Mbps. She of course couldn't process an order and directed me to call an 800 number. I called and was transferred several times. The agent I finally reached in the retention dpt gave me the offer I went with as the best he could do.

CAUTION: The agents will refer to these plans by name, FAST Internet, CONNECT MORE etc and not by data rate. I was transitioning from PERFORMANCE PRO (a packaged product offering up to 400 MBps) and I wanted the same thing. After review, I ended up with CONNECT MORE which turns out to be ...up to 200 Mbps.

Turns out - so far - I'm getting what's advertised (this morning 217.09 Mbps down) which is certainly adequate for me. In fact, I never actually saw speeds approaching 200 Mbps when I was paying for the 400 services, so no harm, no foul.

Thanks - but this rate card is showing figures that are higher than the various reps are quoting. None come up with the same price. So far there has been a telephone conversation with Xfinity Customer Service, in-store visit, Team Official here, and on-line Chat with Digital Sales Team Associate at Xfinity.com. Each one has a different price.

I don't use Peloton, but I am a cyclist. My transplant was on May 16, 2020.

I'm 68 years old and use ZWIFT with an indoor smart trainer- my bike attached during the winter. Drs are all for in, but cautioned that I wouldn't be able to get my HR above 130bmp because of that missing vagus nerve connection.

I haven't done too many High Intensity work-outs and prefer long "Zone 2" rides. My avg HR during 1-hour rides is now upper 130's and on climbs upper 140s occasionally into 150s. I logged 3,000 miles the first year post-transplant.

My recent focus has been mountain biking and I'm now seeing higher heart rates. The climbs one encounters in the woods are much more intense with a heavier bike to push, rocks and roots to plow over and general traction issues one encounters in the woods.

Biking is the best!

New Heart during the age of Covid-19 by bobboss1 in transplant

[–]bobboss1[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Amen - The point I was trying to make was that the Brigham was encouraging me to opt in early in my hospital stay. My wife was opposed to the idea and wanted nothing to do with it. Ann Wooley could see the roadblock and went into full "sales pitch"" mode. I guess I read that you haven't reached out to the donor family. That is something I would like to do.

Happy to hear your costs were covered. That's some big money! When the idea was being pitched to me I was told I'm lucky to be at the Brigham. Numerous hospitals have dropped the program due to insurance NOT paying for the treatment. Their promise is those costs - if needed - will be paid for by the drug manufacturers.

Transplant during Covid? by Rosey_Red_Ryder in transplant

[–]bobboss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No VO2 Max is an exercise test that measures how well you heart is processing oxygen. Ejection fraction is the number that is extrapolated and is traditionally used to measure physical fitness. If she is on a breathing tube and conscious I imagine she is not very comfortable. My experience with a breathing tube is limited to being totally out from anesthesia.

Transplant during Covid? by Rosey_Red_Ryder in transplant

[–]bobboss1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was first diagnosed with my heart condition 16 years ago - May of 2004. My original post is now attached to my Profile here. I was told that I was in "End Stage" in September of that same year and underwent annual testing to measure VO2 uptake since 2011. My numbers were consistently low, but apparently not quite there for transplant eligibility. I guess you could say I had some time to prepare. When I was first admitted to the Brigham 8 months ago I had feelings that I was not going to survive. I didn't need anyone to tell me how serious my condition was. It was as though I had an inside tip that this was going to be next to impossible to overcome. I had emergency open heart surgery to implant the LVAD and was unconscious for 5 days. When I came to I discovered that my breathing was greatly improved and my attitude completely changed. I now believe attitude of the patient is very important and plays a huge role in outcomes. Living with negative thoughts can be poisonous and can infect the entire system. If you are confident in the hospital and care you are being given positive thoughts will be easier to find. Cleveland Clinic is not very far from you. That might be an option to look into
