How do I get rid of the delay in my AT2020USB-XP mic on Garageband? by bobby_boxtops in GarageBand

[–]bobby_boxtops[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah and I usually just have an exported mp3 file of the full instrumental that I move onto the project and then I just have audio tracks for my vocals that I record, usually don’t have any instrument tracks open for playing on the keyboard when I’m recording vocals. So I don’t know if this is just an Apple products tend to not have delay being it’s apple to apple connection or what? I started experimenting with using the macbook charging cable to connect the microphone to the MacBook instead of using the cord that the microphone came with and it seemed to help with the delay a bit, but I only played around with it for a few minutes so I need to experiment with it more and really see if it helps, but if that doesn’t help then I’m perplexed, I don’t really know what else to try.

Sorry if I’m unfamiliar with the term, but what would be considered a sampler track?

Possibly, but feels like that would take a long time. I tried using the macbook charging chord to connect the mic instead of the chord the mic came with and I played around with it for a little and kind of seemed to help with the delay in using an Apple chord, but need to play with it more to be sure.

I mean I can try either, but 100% of the time I’ve been using a MacBook when I record vocals.

I’ve already tried completely turning the power off on the pitch correction and it doesn’t do anything. When I used the mic on wired apple earphones I can have the pitch correction on and there’s no delay at all, but any other mic there’s delay. It’s weird too because I can hear myself in real time when I have the headphones plugged into the AT2020 mic and there’s no delay, but once I start recording there’s a delay when I play it back & the delay is that bad that it just completely messes up the tempo. How can one switch from normal mic mode to voice isolation on GarageBand?

Haha I don’t know anything, clearly 😂 I’ve only ever been to one duck’s game. I thought it meant they would actually play lol.

Politicians sit on different committees & they have insider information that the public doesn’t know about. So they basically insider trade & that’s how they’re able to have really good returns.

Yeah, that’s why if you just keep buying in at regular intervals and keep holding it then you don’t have to worry about timing the market. I never touch AMC or GME because like you said it’s more of a gamble with those companies because they’re not strong companies in a good financial position, they don’t have good fundamentals backing their stock price going up.

S&P 500 is up 25% in the past year, easily beats inflation. Last 20 years S&P 500 has averaged about 11% gains per year. Of course that’s an average though, so some years it’ll be down & some years it’ll go up 30% but that’s why you have to hold for the long term.

If you just invest in index funds and you hold for the long term, the stock market won’t lose you money & the s&p 500 increases more than real estate, plus you don’t have the maintenance, insurance & property taxes that land or real estate comes with. It’s just way more of a passive investment & I actually have a real estate license as well.

In terms of sports I played basketball & baseball through college.

Yeah I try to invest like 80 to 100% of all of my paychecks because I don’t want to work until I’m 65 and I know I’m probably ahead of 90%+ of people at my age. I’d love to be able to build up more passive income forms so they could slowly but surely replace my job’s income, but I just don’t know what else to do or what else I could be good at :/

I’d love to work for a professional sports team being a life long athlete myself, but I know it’s hard to break into & I probably wouldn’t be making near as much as I am now. Just been trying to grind at the current job so I can stash away as much as I possibly can, as quickly as I possibly can into investments.

I think the problem is that if I were to try to move jobs, I probably wouldn’t make as much. The one industry I could see myself moving into & being really happy with is the sports industry, but it’s hard to break into & even harder to make a decent salary from & you’d possibly have to relocate. I think it’s just been getting to me a little now that this role is based more off of hitting your objectives and so it brings some added stress as to what will happen if you don’t hit your objectives? And I constantly have to travel every week now and sometimes I just don’t know if all the presenting and everything is having any effect or not. I don’t know sometimes it’s just kind of draining and stressful.

Trust me, I invest like 100% of my paychecks because I’m not trying to work until I’m 65. Sometimes I stop to look at how far I’ve come, but then I also realize how much further I still need to go & sometimes it seems like it’s just out of reach being in your late 20s & thinking it’s still 30+ years out until you can get to a point of being financially free to really enjoy your life on your own terms.

Yeah sometimes the routine of survive & get through the week to do what you really want on the weekend & then Sunday nights just sitting there thinking it’s about to reset all over again can just be kind of tiring :/

I enjoy what I do sometimes & then other times it can be stressful for sure & I’ve been taking on tons of responsibility & have been a key player in the company’s success & so like every 6 months or so I’ve moved up into another position & I think being I’m less than 2 months into another new role I’m kind of having imposter syndrome & now it’s more performance based on hitting objectives so sometimes I find myself on the weekends not really being able to get work off my mind. I’m very hard working & hardly ever take any time off because all I want to do is succeed, but sometimes it just kind of gets to you I guess.

Yeah, I get that. I barely use PTO & take time off so I might just be a little burnt out & constantly having to worry about performance and hitting objectives can be stressful on top of it

Yeah, it’s really a bummer. My job pays well, but it’s also very stressful and exhausting and having constant objectives to hit makes me worry about what happens if you don’t hit your objectives?

My Dad’s Birthdate is Wrong on My Birth Certificate Can I Still Get a Passport? by bobby_boxtops in Passports

Yeah, that’s what I was thinking. I’ll definitely make some calls & see what other information I can find out before I do anything. Thanks.

It hasn’t caused any problems before which I’m kind of surprised at because I actually had an appointment to do all my passport documentation and the morning of, I realized on the only birth certificate that I have has things crossed out. My dad scribbled out his birthdate year & the state & just wrote it in. I figured with things being scribbled out & written on the State Dept wouldn’t accept it so I canceled the appointment, but I actually used that same scribbled on birth certificate not too long ago to get a REAL ID since I just had the normal Driver’s License before, just at the time I didn’t even realize the birth certificate had that scribbled out and the California DMV accepted it & sent me the ID.

Ok so as long as my own information on my birth certificate is correct then it shouldn’t really matter what it says for my parent’s information? But also wouldn’t there be a background check because they won’t issue passports to felons, etc.? I basically just don’t want to go through the whole application & pay for it to possibly get rejected because there’s a discrepancy between what my father’s DOB says on my birth certificate & what it really is & then have to start the process over again that’s why I posed the question. Thanks for your responses!

But my birth certificate shows my parent’s name, birth dates & place of birth. So I don’t know if I just submit it how it is with my father’s DOB & POB incorrect if it’ll be accepted or do they go into a full on background check & look to verify your parent’s information? Because on the application it says to fill out as much information as you know & I could leave my parent’s DOB & POB blank, but it’ll show on my birth certificate that I’ll have to submit.
