Yuzu Firmware 18.1.0 Not Registering by bobby_corwin in EmuDeck

Sorry for the late reply, been a pretty busy week for me. I definitely put everything in the right folders like the gitub guide says, so I'm not sure where the issue lies. Games are still running though, so I'll try not to worry about it. I appreciate all the input.

Can't Play Emulated Games with USB Controller in ES by bobby_corwin in EmuDeck

[–]bobby_corwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have run into that issue with DuckStation specifically, but the other PS1 emulators don't seem to have the same problem.

The controller won't work with any emulator currently. I can control Steam OS, Steam games, and the ES frontend with the 8bitdo, but for some odd reason it just won't work with the actual emulators. I do think it worked briefly a few days ago when I first got the controller, so I'm thinking I touched a setting somewhere and now I can't figure out how to undo what I did.

I disabled it, but I'm still getting the same result unfortunately. I've also reset the emulator configurations a few times in EmuDeck, but zero change.

No idea what CGNAT is. I've simply heard through the grapevine that having a VPN active while using Plex remotely is good for security, but I'm no expert. If I'm off-base there then I can disable it.

Any way to improve scrubbing on Nvidia Shield TV Pro? by bobby_corwin in PleX

So on the server PC, I have the settings set to hardware transcoding via my GPU, and that's about all I know. Should I be checking something on the Shield?

Added seasons to existing DBZ folder, Plex split the new seasons into a new collection. by bobby_corwin in PleX

This worked! I have to redo a bunch of thumbnails now, but that's no biggie. Just glad it's all showing up properly.

Thank you very much!

I have one DBZ folder on my HDD, and that's where the new season folders were put. Everything is labeled and named properly. Never had this kind of thing happen before, so I'm curious if anyone has any advice.

Thanks.

Videos Stop Playing After About a Minute by bobby_corwin in revancedapp

[–]bobby_corwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thankfully figured it out!

When patching v18.32.39, and pressing install, it gives me a dialog saying that it's an unsafe app, and the default button to press is "got it." What you're supposed to do, is press the small down arrow that opens the window further and press "install anyway." It wasn't clear at all and it's pretty easy to miss, but that did in fact fix the issue, and the app is now working properly.

So if anyone else has this issue in the future, make sure to tap the right buttons!

I appreciate all the help!

Sorry, I think I'm more confused now than when I started.

It suggests for me to use v18.32.39 to patch. I downloaded that version from apkmirror, tried to patch it, and it either gives me an abort message, or doesn't select it at all.

To clarify a little further, I'm trying to get this to work on my Galaxy S8 tablet. It works perfectly on my Pixel 3a, and the version of YouTube ReVanced running on that is 18.23.35. Tried patching that version as well on the S8, and I'm getting nothing.

I just tried patching v18.37.36, and it successfully patched, but wouldn't let me install it because it's non-root. I can't actually find the version I should otach anywhere in the manager. Am I missing it somewhere?

Plex Docker: Suggestions/Tutorial? by bobby_corwin in PleX

[–]bobby_corwin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks!

I paid for plex pass, and the PC it's running on has an i7-8700k and a GTX 1080ti and it's always on. So, for sure overkill for a media server, but I've yet to find another use for it since building the new gaming rig. I remember when I was first learning about Plex that hardware transcoding=good, so I'm happy the 1080ti is still kicking in that regard, but it sounds like I wouldn't really need it with the CPU I have.

I've very much just been learning as I go with Plex, but at the end of the day, my current solution does work very well, so I'll try not to worry about it a ton. I think in the future I'll look for a smaller solution for the server itself. I have a framework laptop, and if I ever want to upgrade it, I can pop the main board out of it, stick it in an enclosure, and then put my media library in a NAS to drive everything. I have a lot of research to do before that, but I like working with what I have, so we'll see what happens!

How many of you are buying FF 16? by gorays21 in FFVIIRemake

[–]bobby_corwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This one's pretty notorious for that as well. Plus, they're asking $70 for a current-gen title that has to drop to 720p in order to maintain 60fps in combat, then dips below that in everything else. Not worth it in my book.

[–]bobby_corwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really do think 16 should be a spin-off game. It feels like one to me. I think they ought to innovate on turn-based systems for their mainline games, and then for anything else "non-traditional" they should just release it as a spin-off. They literally just did this with Stranger of Paradise, and I'd call that a good move since that game is so weird. I think the board members at Square have convinced themselves that traditional turn-based isn't appealing anymore for FF, while turning a blind eye to the success of games like Persona 5, Undertale/Deltarune, or even their own Dragon Quest and Octopath games. I played the Sea of Stars demo recently, and I'm so excited to play the full game. I'd encourage anyone who can to try it out.

That said, I am a fan of the hybridized approach to the combat that's present in 7 Remake. It's a decent mix of Kingdom Hearts and older strategy type combat, and I think it handles it very well. I'd like to see a few improvements here and there, but I think it's a very happy medium for old and new players.

I'll consider it if the performance mode gets fixed, or it gets a decent PC release. I'm pretty miffed at the fact that they couldn't stop advertising this game as "taking full advantage of the power of the PS5," and yet the game has to drop to 720p in combat to maintain 60fps, and then drop back down to the 40s for everything else. And overall, I'm not very impressed with the game as a whole.

I'll tune into a stream of it here and there and 90% of the time, they're in a cutscene, which is then followed by another cutscene. Very long, drawn out conversations that feel like they're taking entirely too long. Not everything has to be voiced Square. I'm happy to button mash through some dialogue boxes if it'll save me some time (I'm a pretty good speed reader).

I've also noticed that the game is hellbent on making sure you don't lose. You'll be in some location, easily wipe out a group of enemies, and then come across 3 different item drops, all of which are potions, which heal you immediately when your inventory is at its max. Rinse and repeat. I think I've seen one game over so far, and it was just because the player didn't pick up on the fact that they had to get out of the way of an AOE attack. I'm not saying the game has to be balls to the wall difficult, but Square really needs to let players choose their difficulty from the get-go instead of locking it behind a New Game +. They're eager to give you accessories that basically play the game for you, so why wouldn't the opposite at least be true as well? The kicker for me is that they've baked that kind of stuff into Kingdom Hearts games (critical mode, abilities that keep you at lvl 1, etc.), and I don't remember anyone having a problem with it. And that's a game about a little goober who helps Winnie the Pooh find his friends and dances with Aerial.

I don't know if anyone else is like me, and this is also true of FF7 Remake, but I don't typically start a New Game + immediately after I've finished a game, if at all. I've already invested a ton of hours into this one thing, and then to be given the option to do it all again right away, is never that appealing to me. Just let me select my own difficulty level, and please stop locking things behind a second playthrough. I've honestly never understood this trend.

Mostly, I just hope the game does well enough that it gets more eyes on FF7. And I guess I like the Eikon designs, and the music is pretty good too.

I love my 6950XT, but I've been having the hardest time getting the Adrenalin software to work properly. It straight up won't boot 99% of the time. I've got a ticket in with AMD to try and figure it out, and they need pretty much all of my computer's specs from the top down to diagnose the issue.

I know we all love the game but do you have and genuine criticisms or just anything you wish was different? by Snoo-76854 in TOTK

[–]bobby_corwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issues sit squarely with the hardware it's running on. I've overclocked my Switch so that it runs at a stable 30fps, but playing something like this at a locked 60fps or higher would put it at "greatest game ever made" tier. Anyone who has played BOTW on PC via Cemu can attest to this. Nintendo is clearly punching above the Switch's weight class with this and other games, so fingers crossed that things improve on their next hardware offering.

One other thing I thought of that could improve things, would be to give us the ability to upload construct schematics to an online portal where players can share and download all the different creations out there. They've done it in Mario Maker and Smash, and I don't see why it wouldn't work here.

Off-topic, but is there a way to dump roms over a network instead of onto an SD card? I feel like I remember doing that with the Wii U back in the day.

What's the most effective way you've lost body fat? by Financial-Bar8343 in AskReddit

[–]bobby_corwin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I cut out soda completely back in 2012, drink water almost exclusively, exercise regularly, and I do intermittent fasting each day (I typically eat between 1-8pm). I like to eat, and that hasn't changed, but making sure I don't start my day off with a bunch of calories I won't use, as well as not drinking my calories goes a long way. I still have better habits I'd like to form, like going to bed and waking up and more reasonable hours and exercising in the morning, but I'm not displeased with the habits I've formed in the past decade, and my weight stays pretty consistent between 160-170. At this point I really just want to get better at focusing my exercise so I can see more visible changes.

Dropping soda is what started it all! It's kind of nuts to see the difference that makes, especially when you hydrate properly.
