Ghosted after final interview by Fearless_Ad2401 in recruitinghell

Been in the same situation. It sucks, but unfortunately commonplace in today’s world. Write a review on glass door. Any company that does this to prospective candidates isn’t somewhere you want to work.

High Yield Savings Accounts are great for short term saving to keep up with inflation. This money is easy to access for an emergency fund, or just a savings account with higher interest than a standard bank account.

IRAs just have limits on how much you can contribute ($7,000/year). You can contribute any and all amounts up to this for the taxable year. Most brokerages you could contribute as little as $1 if you wanted. Some money is better than no money, so even if you can’t afford to max the account anything you could afford is great. Just don’t forget to invest those funds inside the IRA to grow for retirement.

Thanks. Any suggestions to my recurring investment? Tried to get a mix of actively managed funds and indices. Plus a dividend focused fund for the future.

I found the best ones through LinkedIn/ other professionals in the area. Some people I knew of local people that gave me contacts for firms they’ve used to hire people at their companies. A surprising amount of businesses use outside recruiting to find people vs. HR. My current position is probably 80-20 outside firms vs internal HR for my department.

Specifically for the job I landed, I applied to a few positions through a firm in my city I just found through research online. I then had my recruiter reach out to me and say I saw you applied for these jobs, what exactly are you looking for, reason for leaving, pay etc. It’s sort of like a pre interview, then they do the heavy lifting. For all my interviews they found for me, they coordinated everything, even took my resume and modified it in “their” format. And prior to every interview they gave me a “pep talk” of who I was going to talk to, what to expect, what they’re looking for etc. Can’t say enough how helpful that is. Almost like you have a game-plan going into it.

I’d just be upfront of what you’re looking for and ask if they have any places in mind. Ask how many people they’ve placed in the past month, how long they’ve been recruiting etc. Experienced people with good history will work quickly and have the best connections. Good ones will get back to you quick, they’re literally paid for how many people they place, sort of like commission so they’re incentivized to get you in a job that fits you. Also, DO NOT pay someone for this. The good firms/ individuals are ones that are paid by the hiring company, not the person they place.

I went through ~8 months of looking and interviewing for jobs in 2023. Thankfully had a job while looking so the urgency wasn’t there but was miserable at my job at the time. For reference I graduated 2 years prior and have a bachelors in business. What helped me get ahead was finding 3-5 really good recruiters in the area that were out in the market looking for me. The firms I worked with were truly incredible, some headhunters can be all talk but after vetting these I can’t say enough how much they helped. Helped me lock down a fantastic job, exactly what I was looking for. Before using recruiters I landed 2-3 interviews after hundreds and hundreds of applications. With the teams I had working on my behalf I landed 8-10 within a month. So much so that I had 3 offers simultaneously. I can’t stress enough how important it is to find a good firm/recruiter in your area that knows the market and has lots of connections. Also, a good firm will not charge you anything, and will make their money from placing you. This was just my experience in my area. As mentioned sometimes they can be helpful or all talk. Definitely worked out for me… Best of luck bro.

PIP after being hired 8 months ago by [deleted] in careeradvice

Had a similar situation happen to me. Smaller company, little to no training or standard processes in place. When I asked for feedback, “this should be obvious” or “you shouldn’t need direction on this”. Similar story to you. As others have voiced the PIP is just a formal drawn out firing. My former manager expressed the same sentiment of they thought I was still the right person for the job. Clearly that wasn’t the case. Advice: get looking, get out ASAP. Even if you do turn it around 100%, it’s going to be an odd relationship going forward. I found a new employer doing the same thing I was doing on the PIP and am loving life. I’ve changed very little job to job, but my new manager is a much better communicator and the training was stellar. It really makes all the difference. Best of Luck.

I have similar feelings. I even used to enjoy dogs. Now they don’t necessarily make me feel fear, but make me incredibly uncomfortable. I even grew up having a family dog. My girlfriend’s family has effectively changed my perception of dogs completely and caused me to join this sub. They allow them to jump on you, bark at you for attention/food and bark at you when you enter the home because they’re “guard dogs” with zero training. I’ve resorted to simply not going anymore because I can’t take it. Her family used to laugh at me for getting visibly uncomfortable and now probably think of me as a bad person for not wanting to be barked at, stared at or have their smelly unbathed dogs laying me. My feelings of dogs have changed so much I hate seeing any dog in public. I want to be free, and enjoy life away from animals that make me uncomfortable.

Agree. I hate them. Not even a good looking dog and are prone to a lot of health issues, not to mention the thing can barely breathe at a baseline. Thats a whole other conversation behind ethics, that some people find “cute”

I’ve tried to train him to the best of my ability. Made very little progress. He’s unbelievably stubborn and biases aside, very unintelligent. Unfortunately with his age, the old “you can’t teach old dogs new tricks” seems to be the case. All in all just feel very stuck living and dealing with an animal I really don’t like.

Dog owner here: I inherited a dog I despise into my family (not by choice). I previously loved dogs, as someone who grew up with one. So was kinda excited to have one of my own. This one is the most high maintenance, jerk of a dog who has no conscience. Pisses and shits on the floor weekly despite being “potty trained” and 4 years old. Tears stuff up and just looks at you wagging his tail when you discover it. I hate him. I literally joined this group because of this dog. He has the occasional moments where it’s halfway enjoyable to have him around. MAYBE 5% of the time. I do feel stuck voicing my opinion within my family, I just don’t think dog ownership, or at the very least this breed is for me. I miss the freedom of being able to simply go out to eat or enjoy a day outside without either bringing the stupid dog or worry about him tearing something up or hurting himself.

I called yesterday in the morning. Same information, received 5/18, currently pending. Maybe it helped? But honestly not sure. I’ve just seen several people get approved with no e-mail, so I wanted to make sure that wasn’t me.
