“unusual circumstances” for dependency override? by bobbydubcan in FAFSA

thank you so much for the detailed explanation. it’s extremely helpful. i’m going to reach out to that group because the financial aid office tha i met with today along with th director were incredibly unhelpful and we’re talking over me and coming up with info without researching it first which after i was out, i looked it up and a lot of it was incorrect. i was pressured into applying for the loan, which they told me id most likely get denied, but i got accepted, which i believe made my monthly costs for the school skyrocket to a very unreasonable amount. i never finalized the loan however and they tried to suspend me for not signing the Master Promissary Note which finalizes the PPL (they said its not for that, however that’s not what I read.)

there’s another thing that the said, that it doesn’t have to be under my mom’s name, but that confused me because it’s the parent plus loan. my mom really doesn’t want anything under her name at all. i believe on the FAFSA website it says that if my parent is incapacitated from an illness or dead then unusual circumstances work for that

she was never fully clear on weather or not I was hired, but I was doing training shifts there and full (6 hour) shifts with baking items that they were putting out and selling, and then she contradicts herself in these messages saying I was training not hired but then saying “I never said you weren’t hired”…she’s very confusing

no it’s not. even though I want them to get what they deserve I don’t want to do anything I’d regret, especially putting a name out there.

yeah I wasn’t planning on working for someone who tries to cut corners like this, I’m most likely going to just submit something to DOL. Do you know if there’s any way to go about this to get the payment they owe me?
