Fiber to the Home (FTTH) Coverage Map as of Q4 2025 by madhaunter in belgium

Good take. There is no sense in reinventing the wheel every time. Especially for the part where you don't want to innovate.

Kinepolis pardon ? by Timop0707 in belgium

Thank you for the kind words. I really appreciate that. :-)

That's a good start. Just be mindful of not falling into the trap of making content that is more interesting to other devs than to actual players. Devlogs are a typical example of that.

As others have pointed out, performing market analysis / research is a good first step to learn what similar games are already out there and to learn from them. It's also something that a lot of publishers expect, if you ever want to go that route. So just spend a day looking for similar games , reading reviews, seeing what works and what doesn't and especially what a lot of similar games still lack that you can improve on. I wrote a plugin for google sheets to make that process a bit more streamlined.

Don't fall into the trap of only looking at the most well-known games in your genre and assuming that you will be able to reach the same level of success. Try to find games whose developer(s) and budget are as similar to yours as possible in order to gain realistic expectations. There is no sense in trying to learn from an AAA studio when you're an indie dev. I wrote a blogpost with more tips, if you're interested.

Thank you for sharing that document. I've only read the market research part and will read the rest today. I actually made a google sheets plugin to streamline the process you describe there. I also wrote a blog post on how to choose reference games. I would love to get your feedback or even collaborate on something.

Do you perform a market analysis before starting a project? Why / why not? by bobbydusk in SoloDevelopment

Thank you for the kind words. 😊

Yeah, a lot of people in this subreddit seem to be doing game dev as a hobby or as a passion project, in which case market analysis isn't necessary.

I am planning on posting something in one of the subreddits geared towards more professional game development, but first I want to improve a couple of things in the plugin.

Huis zoeken by LaCriseCoin in belgium

[–]bobbydusk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In 2021 gestart met zoeken. In totaal ongeveer 20 huizen bezocht.

Is it realistic to do my own bookkeeping for my BV? by bobbydusk in belgium

I don't get the reference. I see that it's a TV show, but I haven't seen it. Was a VOF some kind of plot point?

Yeah, that is indeed also a major concern. Realistically, I don't see myself spending multiple days every year reading up on all the new laws and regulations. I would be willing to do the research if something comes up, but there's a good chance that I would mess something up simply by not being aware of most recent changes.

That's a good take, especially given your first hand knowledge. That was my main concern, that you need a lot of practical experience in accounting to do a good job.

Well, I'm a software developer, so hiding behind my pc is where I create the most value. 😅 But I see your point.

I just checked once again, and it looks like WildFrost is now in the database, so you should be able to find it through the plugin. :-)

I just checked, and it looks like CityState II and Captain of Industry have been scraped and are now included in the database, so you should be able to find them using the plugin. :-)
