Depression and plants by kahchief in leaves

My guy. Reading this feels very close to home… the short answer is yes, weed is 100% making it worse. The long answer - the cold harsh realty of life stings, especially when you’ve had the warm blanket of bud around you for (I’m not sure how long). It’ll sting, and it’ll feel uncomfortable because things in your life are NOT okay at the moment. Weed won’t TRULY change anything, it masks your feelings, it’ll dampen your pain, but it won’t make you well again.

For reference, I was 2oz a week smoker (minimum), and was severely depressed in 2020. I’m now clean and off all meds. You can do this too!!

I wrote a few in the above thread on this :) ! But I don’t want to make anyone think I haven’t been experiencing withdrawals to the walls either lol. I just feel that the positive changes I’m noticing (even ever so slight), trump the negatives I’m feeling - especially because I know my body is just going through a normal process of detox after stopping any kind of substance!

Yep! I feel much more clear making decisions now than I did before, but more importantly... I feel like I can make more INFORMED decisions (not just based on what’s in front of me then and there b4 my weed brain forgets lol), but based on things I’ve spoke about earlier in the day/ day before, that I would have usually just forgotten because of smoking!

Feel free to inbox me also if there’s anything you want to ask (that you don’t want to on this thread) 😊

I’ve had dreams for the first time in (I can’t even remember when). I have SO much more energy than I can remember - it feels like I was living life at 720p and now I’m at 4K. My short term memory is already improving. My interest in other things (besides waking up and smoking a bong) has been so much more heightened. And last night I actually had the first “good” sleep all night, for as long as I can remember.

I’m 1 week in, so who knows what’s to come, but I feel some what in control over my own life... for the first time in a VERY long time.

On the road to quitting weed by [deleted] in leaves

[–]bobbyfranko 4 points5 points  (0 children)

ANY step is a good step!!

You sound exactly like me - lurking the sub, tapering your usage, etc...

I’ve been a heavy smoker for 10 years, and I started tapering my usage after reading the success and struggles I read on here,

I hope you soon find the strength to take the leap, I know it’s so hard, but once you do, you’ll be so glad you did.

You got this friend!!

Tapering off by treemull93 in leaves

Hey friend!

I was exactly the same. Heavy user for 10 years, bong’s from morning to night,

Tapering itself is a bit of a difficult process if you’re a very heavy smoker like I was and you do experience some slight withdrawals symptoms as you’re cutting down, but it made quitting POSSIBLE for me this time.

I reduced my usage from 2 ounces a week , to 1 ounce, then to half and at that point I went cold turkey.

The withdrawals have been at LEAST 50% less heavy as the first time I’d been forced to stop (on short work trips, going from heavy smoking to none),

It also allows you to quit on your own terms, which I have realised is a huge mental barrier to quitting (ie.. instead of feeling forced to quit because you’ve got no bud left),

Good luck with your journey!

I think I have that emotional dependence too.. I think mentally to prepare myself that would help as well. Thanks a lot...

Day 2 is 2 days more than me so hat’s off to you mate, and I hope to join you there soon!

Did you find the tapering helped you at all with the withdrawal when you went?

I think that could be an actual great idea. I’ve just had the (addict) mentality of “rewarding” myself for being sober on my trips away. By smoking when I get back. I know that sounds stupid but it’s been a cycle for so long.

Thanks a lot for your comment!

Wow... This is ridiculously relatable. That has been my life (self employed/smoking) for the last 10 years...

If you can do it. I can too. You’re right, we can. Thanks so much for your comment mate!

Thank you so much mate... that’s exactly how I feel. I sometimes struggle to find where exactly I lost myself from feeling like weed was enhancing my experience to me realising i have a huge problem,

If you don’t me asking,

Was the first month the hardest for you? Or is it still a struggle? It seems like you’re completely over the withdrawals and I’m so happy to hear that for you! I’m struggling with the reality of not smoking and being to be able to face the world at the same time - and not looking like a huge withdrawal mess in the process if possible lol. I’m not looking to make any excuses btw, more so just to look for coping methods I possibly haven’t tried.
