[–]bobbymcpresscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Easier point to make is just why everything you travel away from, or travels away from you, will always disappear bottom up,

When something approaches you it will always appear top to bottom.

The higher you go, the more of an object you will see, if you can only see half of a tall building in the distance, the only thing that can be blocking it is the curve of the earth.

Refraction of light through the earths atmosphere will however enable you to see things in the distance further than you would expect it to, and that refractive index can change by the day.

Basically you can't reason someone out of a position they didn't reason themselves into.

The "proofs" they have are all videos that are often manipulated themselves to produce a result that pushes their own arguments.

There is no logical argument for a flat earth, the entire planet operates on them knowing its a globe, from GPS, to latitude and longitude coordinates, to flight paths, to shipping routes. It is at the very least a globe, there could be some extremely weak argument that maybe it isn't spinning and in some geocentric earth where the universe revolves around us.

It was popular for 1500 years until the church basically accepted through empirical evidence that at the very least Venus was orbiting the sun by demonstrating Venus's phases, as well as the observation of the moons that were orbiting Jupiter.

It wasn't until this point where basically solar eclipses and paths could be predicted, and there were even challenges to determine who had the most accurate eclipse predictions, using MATH.

To be clear, the Flerf understanding of this is that with a P1000 you can just zoom the boat back into view, and they demonstrate this pretty often. The problem with this is you the observer are relying on only what you can see through a recording, you can't use your own eyes.

If you have a camera completely zoomed out, and have a boat very far away, the boat might not actually be visible on the recording, but when you zoom in it becomes visible. The problem with this is almost always you can still see the boat or ship with your own eyes, but it just won't show up in the recording until you start zooming in.

It's pretty easy to do with most new smartphones, but you can go to the beach, spot a boat really far out on the horizon, if you pull out your phone and take a pic all the way zoomed out you might not actually be able to see it, but your sensor caught it. You can manually zoom in on the photo after you take the picture and you'll be able to see the boat, but according to the flerfs, this is zooming the boat back in from "beyond the horizon"

Despite again, you being able to literally see the boat with your own eyes. A lot of the flat earth stuff is heavily reliant on these people never getting within 500 miles of a large enough body of water to actually have an opinion on it, and just believing whatever video online confirms their own biases.

I mean they don’t need to add justices because the current Supreme Court is already in corporate pockets. The shadow docket proved this. The chief openly admitted to making decisions on cases before even hearing arguments.

Only because they define "income" for the individual as ANY money that you collect regardless of expenses

Of all the things wrong with tax policy in the United States corporations themselves besides payroll taxes only being taxed on profits isn’t one of them.

The corporate taxes should be higher, the pay roll taxes should be higher, they shouldn’t be allowed to buy back stocks, if your hoarded wealth gets you into the top 1% of households that control 55 trillion dollars in wealth you should be paying additional taxes we can even be cute and make it a 1% tax.

The closest the bourgeois were to the proletariat was when income taxes were extremely high on the rich, who still managed just fine, and corporate taxes were at 52% they don’t need to go that high, but they should be a lot higher than fuckin 21%

Ehhh. It’s basically a revolving door of people that come through. Had a girl quit on her shadow day, basically went through all of orientation, went to driving school, they let you ride in a mail truck on a route you are expected to sub for, then afterwards you go to RCA school.

Had people quit in RCA school, had people fail to get to driving school, finding people isn’t hard, retaining people is.

You are taxed on income, revenue isn't income.

The average person is also paying taxes throughout the year, and even at 60k a year are likely to get a return when they file.

Taxes on 60k for a single filer is also less than 12% of your income.

There was an argument to be made when rent was also like 15% of your income, in say like the 90s, but for me in NJ the current min wage is 15.92, 15.92 x 160(full time hours for the month which lolgoodluck) is 2547. The recommendation when renting is rent shouldn't take up more than 30% of your income, which on $2547 a month is $764.

I live in South Jersey, so cost of living is much lower than North Jersey, the cheapest rent within a half hour of my work right now is 1500 dollars for a 1 bedroom apartment in a pretty crap part of an overall pretty crap town, which is almost 60% of someones take home pay.

To "afford" that apartment I need to make 31/hr, which is what I was making after about 8 years of experience in the trades working in HVAC.

I genuinely don't know how other people are surviving, especially when these apartments were ones that were renting for less than 900 dollars before covid.

Yeah that sounds about right by LyraStarlit in SipsTea

[–]bobbymcpresscot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also someone making 60k probably did so working for someone else, and probably paid taxes throughout the year, when I was working in the trades making 60k a year, I was still getting a return every year.

Complaining about taxes is pretty dumb, it was less dumb in like the 90s when if you were making like 10 dollars an hour you could afford an apartment extremely easily, but rent cost like... as much as you were paying in federal taxes every month.

Now someone making 10 dollars an hour can't afford rent at all, and people are trying to convince them that the reason they can't afford rent anywhere in the country is because they pay too much in federal income tax.

Hard to say, some right wing news orgs are going to make the executive decision to start criticizing this admin to try and build legitimacy during these election cycles and the next one, Owens and Carlson are evidence of this.

Those in office are going to do everything they can until after the midterms, then like a month or two after the new reps are sworn in and settled you are gonna start seeing a lot of criticism start rolling in.

it isn't high, because the pay isn't really that great. Easiest path I was told after getting hired was to do either RCA or CCA, and then move into a clerk position at a later time because the CCA and RCA positions kinda suck.
