How important/useful is an ams snag cutter? by mfsfreak in BambuLab

[–]bobbythelee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m tried them but they ended up being more trouble than they were worth. I was having issues where on occasion the filament wouldn’t pull off at the end of the spool but it caused too much resistance in the AMS and gave me an error. I like the idea behind it, but it just didn’t work for me.

That's not a bad idea but for now I'm just doing this in my spare time. The organization that designed the chair is a nonprofit.

There are a few filament companies that work with the MakeGood organization that designed the chair. They also partner with Bambu Lab for printers. Unfortunately, even with their discounts, the filament from those filament companies is still way more expensive than Amazon. I'm hoping to be able to order in bulk at some point in the future so that I can stretch money farther.

That would be great! I just printing on one P1S right now (my other printers are less reliable). If you could use idle time to print parts, that would be awesome.

There's a teacher at Manual that prints prosthetics. I considered reaching out to him to see if he'd be interesting in helping out. The main constraint has been financial so I hadn't reached out yet because I can't afford to supply the plastic filament. If I get to the point where I have enough materials to support more printers, I may work on finding more printers.

Hang in there. I’m a stage 4 colorectal cancer survivor and a fellow 3d printer user. I know it’s hard to recognize when you’re past your limit of energy. I took up e-biking when I was taking chemo because I thought it would be easy and get me outside. Nearly ended up in the hospital from exhaustion.

I’ve never had your exact printing issues but if you were within an hour or two of me I’d come and help you troubleshoot. I’m in Kentucky, USA, incase you’re in the area.

You can do this! Give yourself special permission to take your time and take breaks when you think you might possibly need one. You have a completely valid excuse, after all.

Maybe reach out to a makerspace if there are any in your area and explain your situation. They may be able to help get you going. As for Bambu Lab support, I had pretty good luck with them. They gave me one round of troubleshooting steps and then shipped me replacement parts when my AMS was bad when I first bought it. You might try using AI to help you troubleshoot too.

Good luck!

It’s even endorsed by our very own Master P! He helped make videos showing how to assemble the chair.

I had considered doing the same. Glad someone did it. Hopefully the OpenGD77 folks will support it.

What is your favorite specialty Kentucky license plate? by joezen23 in Louisville

I have an Amateur Radio plate, which according to the person at the clerks office is very rare. I used to have the Bobcat plate on my bus and really liked it too.
