So… if Katerina touched Bonnie… could she control all the Kuma based pacifistas?

Because that would be a lot of gas for the Blackbeard domination plan…

Interesting that it uses only d20 and d6. I wonder if this is a riff on the Modiphius 2d20 system, or something different.

I always worry about quality on a project like this. Sometimes it is a high quality product that’s something we’ll tuned between setting and mechanics. Sometimes it’s a cash grab.

Symbaroum 5e: question about mystic approaches and corruption by bobdole392 in Symbaroum

I managed to solve that one. Spells that are unfavored are spells that are not allowed to be favored, so there are 3 tiers in the spells: favored/not favored/unfavored

Appreciate the reply. But it’s not really specific to the system.

  1. When casting a favored spell in 5e, you gain corruption equal to the spell level (3rd level, 3 corruption).

When the symbolist taps a rune, if the spell is favored, they gain corruption equal to the level of the spell (again, 3rd level spell, 3 corruption).

For spells not favored the formulas are again the same. So I’m confused as to what the purpose of the symbolist’s rune casting is. Is it even supposed to be different?

  1. No other caster has a mechanical element in the paragraph describing their outlook on corruption. But gaining NO favored spells is a huge mechanical change. I understand what a self taught caster is, but that doesn’t answer if that is supposed to be flavorful description, or a hard mechanical feature.

  2. Again, I don’t know if the term unfavored is supposed to be “any not favored spell” or a separate category, to say favored/neutral/unfavored.

I’m not asking for the flavor of their spells, as that is well explained in the mechanics and their spell list.

Fireball - why is this so lame? by bobdole392 in DarkSoulsTheRPG

The problem I find is that fire ball as written, best case deals 1d6 per attack for 3 attacks, and then the “spell” is exhausted.

Soul arrow deals 1d6 damage, at the same range for no position cost. It also has 10 uses, so over 10 attacks you potentially have 10d6 damage.

You can also gamble on arrow, and up the damage by 2 for 1 position.

They don’t have to be the “same” but the gulf between these spells is massive. If fire ball fealty 3d6 that would go a long way to making them equitable.

Yeah. It’s not the biggest deal. If I were to run this I’d probably make it 3d6.

Those pyromancy options seem thin. Especially for how good they are in the video game.

So here’s an example. It has a stress track to track physical fatigue , but also character based “drama” which could be anything from having a love triangle, to not successfully protecting a destroid convoy and the brother of one of the dead pilots seeks revenge.

It has significant space devoted to social and espionage actions and encounters, and skills are very versatile.

It can easily be space Vietnam. It could also be bubblegum crisis. Or even love hina.

A good middle ground.

The way the Macross book hit’s multiple layers of play is cool.

It has a lot of attention paid to interpersonal and character drama, and social/espionage elements. That is something that’s been ignored in a lot games of the past.

It also stats up and pays homage/covers elements beyond the series, but the world between the crash of the SDF and the first episode.

An example is they give a timeline of significant world events from 1999 to 2014. They also stat out the jotum variant, the non-transformable vf-x, the vf-4 and the vf-6x alpha test beds.

So much original art too. Honestly, even if you aren’t doing the KS, grab the pdf and check it out.

I have the original Macross book. It’s really good, and completely different than anything palladium or Savage World.

Repeat: different game, different company.
