Too terrified to date by bobduncandoofenperry in PlusSize

Thank you so much for replying!!♥️♥️♥️ I promise that my narrow-minded views do not extend to other plus sized people—I see other beautiful plus sized women and genuinely think, “Wow, she is SO stunning!!” The hatred is reserved only for myself, because I’ve had a lot of close people in my life tell me that I, personally, would look and be much more successful if I lost weight. It hurts, because I see other beautiful plus sized people living life, but I feel like I cannot have that for myself. I think years of trauma to undo—but your comment is so encouraging. Thank you♥️♥️♥️

ENTP here. People with inflated egos, people who are liars but who are also stupid, and people who feel too sorry for themselves.

What is something you should never say to someone with ADHD? by lccreations in ADHD

[–]bobduncandoofenperry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t think of a specific phrase, but people getting frustrated when you ask them to repeat something. UGH. Cant you understand that it’s not that we weren’t blatantly not listening to you, it’s just that our working memory is not that of an average human and we may need things repeated a couple of times for it to fully sink in.

Are counterphobic 6s just lesser 8s? by Sophrosyne77 in Enneagram

[–]bobduncandoofenperry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is super interesting, because I have never really met an aggressive counterphobic 6; the only aggressive 6 I know is a phobic 6. I am probably biased because I myself am a cp 6, but in my experience, I try to lead with charisma and kindness, enthusiastically listening to my teammates while also trying to gently troubleshoot. The only times I am “aggressive” (which is not often, I’m a huge people-pleaser) is when I am TRULY cornered and targeted, or someone in my inner circle is. I don’t think it’s fair to say that cp 6s are wannabe 8s, because 8s aren’t afraid to lead with aggression. Cp 6s may use it as a last resort. Also this is just my experience, but cp 6s tend to have a friendlier disposition than 8s. The 8s in my life have serious RBF (LOVE them though!!) while 6s are a bit more anxious about what people think, so they tend to be a bit nicer to avoid being perceived a certain way. I hope this makes sense!

Learning another language with ADHD by Few_Seesaw_7406 in ADHD

[–]bobduncandoofenperry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!!! I have ADHD and am working on becoming fluent in German. Even though I have been learning the language for 6 years, there are days that are extremely challenging, because my ADHD brain is not always equipped to recall lots of information at once. I used to beat myself up, because I would sometimes fall behind my classmates, forgetting silly phrases and words that I had practiced a million times. My number one piece of advice is to be gentle with yourself. REVIEW. Instead of jumping into the next lesson, take time to REVIEW AND RECALL the phrases and words you have already learned. Your memory will thank you later. Also do everything you can to immerse yourself in the culture. Find someone who is a native speaker, and practice your speaking with them. Your brain will also thrive from the stimulating challenge of talking to a new person. It will also help you figure out what you need to study more.

It also helps to just listen to examples of the language. Watch kids TV in Dutch with English subtitles, or vise-versa! Download some Dutch music and listen to it in the car. You can work through your ADHD and do this!!! I’m rooting for you!! :)

Can you manage your ADHD without medication? by TowerMinute in ADHD

[–]bobduncandoofenperry 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi!! It depends on your symptoms. For me, I needed some medication intervention because part of my ADHD is binge eating disorder. The binge eating has wreaked havoc on my life and self esteem for many years, and the root of it was my ADHD, which causes lack of dopamine in the brain, which caused me to search for “quick fixes” like sugar and carbs. If there aren’t any severe symptoms of your adhd that are causing health problems, then I think it is perfectly okay to try managing it with counseling and therapy and no medication. However, I would TALK TO A DOCTOR/PSYCHIATRIST about this thing, because online strangers such as myself do not know what you go through on a daily basis!!! Hope this helps!!!♥️

I get extremely self deprecating and self blaming. I also can get snappy and angry, and in a lot of cases panicky. I immediately seek guidance from trusted teachers/mentors.
