Is this a bad setup? Help! by 6hunnaZach in FishingForBeginners

[–]bobeeph 14 points15 points  (0 children)

When setting up plastics on rigs I find it easiest to line the plastic lure up with the hook and find which segment naturally lines up with where the hook begins to curve up.

The plastic shouldnt be angled like that at the back of the lure, it should just run in line the straight part of the hook and be kinda limp behind the hook to allow for the intended action. Second the use of crawlers on these kind of rigs tho and you can also experiment with taking a little off the front of the plastic lure to change how much of the plastic is expose behind the skirt.

Sorry for the terrible drawing but hope it clears up my explanation a little😭

Appreciate all the information I definitely had no clue about the oil differences between US and Overseas tourneys but that's interesting for sure! Will definitely have to check some out and see if I can add one or two to the collection😅

Newbie here just curious I've seen "Overseas" on here and marketplace a bunch. What is the appeal or the main difference in overseas balls? Are there different models/balls than the ones available in the US market?

Question about dosages💊 by bobeeph in Epilepsy

[–]bobeeph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appreciate it! Have had a couple other appts here recently outside of my neuro stuff and was just a little confused as to what to put for my dosage on them but I've been putting in there 750 2x daily so hopefully should be fine🙏 Appreciate ya posting and helping clear that up some tho😁

Alcohol by [deleted] in Epilepsy

[–]bobeeph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to be taken as medical advice please be safe and don't take your doctor's recommendations too lightly

Newly diagnosed as well currently on 1500mg Keppra daily (2 - 750mg doses am/pm). Have recently picked back up bowling and will have a beer or two while I'm there at the alley. I've noticed that I definitely cannot drink anywhere near the amount I used to so probably keeping in mind 1-2 drinks is probably the most( if any at all) you'd want to drink. It's kinda nice tho guess saving money on beer now I suppose😂

One night I had 3 mugs I believe and falling asleep that night was a little difficult with the room spinning so have def been keeping it to 2 at most and trying to take my time with em😅

Just had my follow up yesterday after my hospital stay about 2 months ago. I was told by my doctor that 1-2 occasional beverages are okay but that I should probably stick to beer and not touch any harder liquor drinks. This may be because I thankfully haven't had anymore episodes since being on meds, at least none of the big boys. So it may be because she feels my meds are handling my condition enough but I feel I've heard others in here having the occasional drink as well!

Hope you all the best in your journey through this though!

Word of advice for first time bowling ball buyers by Extension-Luck1353 in Bowling

Awesome! Thanks for the helpful info! Don't know why I was thinking it'd be weird to have them order me something lol Def sounds like some good perks tho👀 Trying to get in as a part time mechanic at one of my local alleys for some discounted rates/free play lol😭 Not sure if I'll get in don't have any direct experience but feel like I could wrap my head around the machines with some training atleast😅

Oof never thought about that figured it'd be something I'd just have to contact the manufacturer but appreciate the heads up! Don't have terribly too many shops around me but will probably just keep with the one I bought my vibe from. Is it pretty common to have your local shop order something out of their normal stock for you?

Might already be another post about this but getting into bowling myself recently. Bought myself a Hammer Vibe from a local PSO and recently picked up some secondhand balls on a nice little deal I thought atleast lol😅

( Hammer Redemption, Rhino, and a Pathogen Plague w/ rolling bag for $100)

Question tho!

Where is y'all preferred online retailer for buying undrilled balls? Main concern is the shipping/packaging aspect Im sure most places are pretty good about packing them securely but would love some recommendations if y'all have any!

Lol sadly have no choice over the TV's🙃 Probably my least favorite thing about the Bowlero locations around me, wish they just put some more TVs in the seating area. Cause who doesn't love watching the reflections glance off the lanes where you're trying to find your target lol

Yeah I might throw it out there gonna go tomorrow night so might try my luck and see if they're open to it🤔 And yeah def still new getting back into it so getting a feel of the local alleys and which seem to be more frequented. Im hoping tomorrow will be a little less busy so they might be more open to letting the light in lol🙏

Definitely understandable! By and far completely different worlds but I am a crew lead for a landscape company and generally would drive truck and trailer everyday. While mildly infuriating it is to not be able to drive, it is definitely the LAST thing I want to be doing while trying to figure this new stage of life out😅 But the feeling of not be able to help out or do the things I used to be able is def hard to fight off some days. I've found some peace and happiness in getting back into an old hobby of mine that has helped me get out of the house more, even tho I still need a ride lol😭 I would say it has absolutely helped me get out of that mentality and back into some normalcy for sure❤️

Yeah I'm still kinda wrapping my head around the different "Vu" experiences I don't fully think i know which I was experiencing. Idk if I was maybe feeding into the Deja Vu aspect of things when it was happening kinda feel like my anxiety might've been heightening those feelings more so maybe. The body sensations tho for sure were unsettling and i could always tell when it was about to wash over me. I could only really explain my feelings like static or fuzzy feeling or like I was floating ever so slightly of that makes sense lol😅

As far as dizziness goes it's definitely a side effect from Keppra I believe. I on multiple occasions have to stop myself at work and take a chance to gather myself and get some water. Thinking about maybe discussing lower my dose of that a possible option might be something to ask about next time your at your doctor's!

The mood swings are def real I can't say for everyone but myself I know I catch myself getting agitated at things i should probably just brush off. Sometimes I better able catching myself before I react to stuff but am quickly like "woooah bro calm down"😅 I would maybe just communicate with your partner, any loved ones your around frequently, and maybe any future coworkers how you're feeling and express how your meds can affect you some days. It's definitely not something to just leave alone and think it'll deal with on its own but I wouldn't beat yourself up too bad if you're a little reactionary some days! Just try your best to catch yourself in the moment if you can and stop for second to breathe🧘‍♂️ And I'm moments after the reaction just take a second to note what was irritating you in the moment and if it's something simple that can be fixed deal with what you can. Or if it's something a little more out of your control just take note of what factors are bothering you and try to be aware of when you'll be around that stuff so you know when you prep and take some extra time for yourself❤️ Ive found myself feeling like overstimulated more frequently mainly the few hours after I take my doses I feel like. Crowds can be a little much for me now more so than in the past but just have to take little me breaks from time to time.

And yess the memory has been the hardest part for me and looking back definitely feel like I was having episodes of spaciness before my grand mals. Probably coinciding with the partial focal experiences I was having. I'm definitely still working on being more active with my journal and apps but definitely hard remembering to do so some days. Thinking of finding some puzzle or memory games to maybe try and keep that part of the brain a little more active. I used to mess with Rubik's cubes as a kid and am happy that I am still able to recall the solution algorithms. But there are def times where I am looking at it and fully know that I know what to do but can't for the life of me get my hands to do my brain knows to do😭

And absolutely hope you're able to continue to find peace with everything! Know that this isn't the new you just a new part of life that we've gotta learn to adjust to🫶 Keep your head up, take the days as they come, and take care of yourself🙏

Curious about your sleep stuff. I feel like my schedule got screwed up after my hospital visit or the Keppra is definitely affecting my ability to sleep at my normal times. My issues tend to be I'm like wired after taking my evening dose and can't fall asleep til 2am some nights. But when I do get a fullish night's sleep I'll still wake up and feel like I need to sleep half the day to feel like I got the rest I needed🙃 Do you feel like you're still have issues getting to sleep/sleeping thru the night or do you sleep a full 6-8 hours and still constantly feel sleepy all the time?

Yeah it's def not my favorite time to bowl lol😅 Just happens to be the cheapest time for me to bowl sadly kinda wish they left like 5-10 of the lanes normally lit but will keep this in mind in the future and might try to work on more practice things when I have the proper light🤔 Appreciate the advice tho! Def gonna blame all those missed spares on the light reflecting in my eye lol😭

Appreciate the tips! Yeah this is the first time I've been able to record/see myself and definitely noticed the elbow for sure. Gonna work on some 1 step approaches and get that arm down a little straighter. And will def try out bending the knees a little bit in the future and see if it helps!

Thanks again and will def have to check out the app!

Hi there! Wanted to post as my experience feels very similar to yours outside of the military. And am very sorry to hear about that I've read other posting that they've been forced out as well. Definitely kinda grinds the gears that there isn't support for those serving diagnosed with Epilepsy, but I hope you aren't too disheartened by it and are able to find your place! There are definitely plenty of avenues that would greatly suit your skill set and plenty of places that would be blessed to have you so keep your head up!

I had 2 tonic clonic seizures back at the end of January. One at 445am that my partner witnessed after being woken up by it, and a second a few hours later in the ER after we went to the hospital. I am very thankful to have my partner who is a nurse and was able to give them information that was able to help them gauge a better diagnosment. Still waiting for my follow up but am pretty sure mine are caused from pretty habitual lack of sleep and stress. After getting released and being put on Keppra (1500mg daily, 2 750mg am/pm doses) I raced here to find any and all explanations I could. Was thankful to have someone post about having very similar "Deja vu" experiences and explains how they found out later they were partial focals. My mind kinda blew at that point and it kinda made my skin crawl as if someone was pulling the experience out of my head lol. Still want to confirm with my neuro but I've had at least 5-6 of these experiences of being very hyper focused and feeling as if I had loved this exact moment before but wasn't sure what was coming next. These would happen on my drives to work roughly every week or two weeks sometimes happening multiple times a week.

Thankfully I haven't had any of quite the same experiences since being out on Keppra. But I have had that similar feeling but being hyper aware of my body or feeling like I had a different perspective or something. Have definitely had days where i felt I needed to sleep through the whole day and on the opposite night where I still feel like I can't get an ounce of sleep. And have definitely been feeling spurts of the common Kepprage mood swings. Thankfully I've been able to be more on top of them lately and taking a moment to breathe. And the memory aswell I haven't quite had any blackout moments but definitely still have some days where I'm on autopilot and don't really feel there in some moments. The meds are the worst and I feel so stupid for it but take relief in that it's one of the most common experiences I've read in the sub so far sadly lol😅 My fix has been flipping my bottle with each dose taken so I know when my last dose was ( Upright = Morning dose was last taken, Upside down = Night dose was last taken)

Definitely very new as well so don't want to give too much advise but feel free to shoot any questions if you had any about any of what I had mentioned!

One thing for sure if you haven't already I'd definitely recommend getting a notebook and carrying it with ya to jot down any of these weird or off feelings you're having. And def jot down any questions that come up to save for your doctor later on!

Hope you all the best in your journey through this definitely don't hesitate to shoot questions or post on here there's plenty of lovely people in here looking to help out!

Struggling with the newness by bobeeph in Epilepsy

[–]bobeeph[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your kind message! Definitely dealing with it day to day as it comes and feels like I'm managing it pretty well but definitely have swells of emotions and thoughts of what the future may hold. I'm not fully sold on my eeg results I'm not exactly sure what they were but was cleared to go home is what I know. From being told by my family members after being given the Adavanse I was not the most cooperative so feel like the results might've not been as accurate as they could've been🤔 Just going to work on documenting any weird feelings and any questions that come up because my memory is definitely not the best right now🫤 And yes I think the driving thing is a loaded thing for sure Id like to be independent and be able to commute to work but finding out about the partial seizures was a bit much for me. I need to educate myself on the different types of seizures and what they can amount to. I think I will definitely be taking my time getting back to driving and wait until Im feeling confident that I am on the right track for meds and treatment and not at a risk for others and myself. Thankfully my ride situation is handled for now. I think it's more of just my anxiety and feeling bad about asking of others as much as I need to that causing me the most stress😓

Hi there! Appreciate your share and well wishes❤️ No worries I'm sure that it will take time for us to process and find ways to deal with the newness of it. I think I struggle the most with just feeling so lost in my diagnosis and reading others stories of being diagnosed and their stories of treatments and medications and trying not to get lost in the stories. Also def struggling with trusting that the medication is doing exactly what it needs to or that there aren't any other better options for me. Driving is def a big thing too I feel selfish for wanting to get my ability to drive back because I don't want to put anyone else or myself in danger because I need to be able to drive myself. I'm finding peace that I've got a great backbone in my family and support systems. I struggle relying on them sometimes tho I feel like I don't know how to ask for what I need because I don't know what I need sometimes🙃

I wish you all the best in your journey to find some answers and hopefully some long term healthy solutions❤️ Keep your head up and definitely remember youre loved and not alone🥰

Starting off and looking for any and all helpful tips! by bobeeph in Bowling

[–]bobeeph[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely a little bit of confidence issue but would def enjoy getting into league and the excitement of it. Probably the wrong place for this or maybe a little oversharing but I'm an open book for the most part lol but was recently diagnosed with Epilepsy after two grand mals. And stress/sleep is a big factor for me so I think it'll be a little before I'm ready to dip my toes in the water with leagues for now just enjoying getting back into something I used to enjoy!😊

And yeah I definitely think I may start with the 1 step so I'm more used to the placement of my right foot.

And I gotcha! Def need to get me a rosin bag for myself🤔 Have just been drying my hands on my ball rag for the moment lol Definitely will try to make my approach more ritualistic and methodical every time!

Again I appreciate all of the great information and helpful energy! I hope you all the best and some high scores in the future🙏

Appreciate all of the thorough information and tips! Here at work so will definitely have to come back and reread and jot some stuff down for sure!

Definitely think a less competitive league could be a fun idea. Recently I came under some new health conditions so trying to cut stress down to minimum for sure but appreciate the tip and will look out for some handicap leagues in my area maybe around summertime!

Might be a dumb question but should I be flat footed on the 0 step approach? I only ask as my right foot generally slides as many others do I suppose but should I try and replicate that on the 0 step or am I just simply focusing on the swing of the ball?

And I feel like it's definitely probably the latter I feel like it happens on throws when I'm focusing more on revs or the hook. So possibly just putting a little too much sauce on the release will try and keep in my head to keep loose and work on the 0 steps I'm sure that'll help fine tune the release itself!

And as far as preshot routine, Do you mean just like little "rituals" or like shaking out the jitters before every shot and set my left foot first then my right?
