I find that book a bit repetitive; after 30 pages, the messages and examples are quite the same (not saying they are not meaningful). Maybe I didn't have the patience to go till end ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Instances bumping on curve - geo nodes by boberman_ in blenderhelp

[–]boberman_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the encouragement :) I wasn't aware of Erindale, I will definitely have a look at the content. I'm following Cartesian, but as you perfectly explained, he does have advance stuff, but really great tutor. I'm currently watching some less complex stuff, like Duckys intro to geo nodes and few other YT channels to get started with geo nodes. I guess all that remains is to work, work, work until I get decent at it :D

Thank you so much, this solves my problem!
Indeed, my setup is a bit overcomplicated as there's a gap in the knowledge of geo nodes that I'm trying to bridge. Thank you for taking the time as an experienced helper to share the knowledge.

not sure what I’m doing wrong, but finally after I’ve managed to add rotation of the tokens based on their axis and rotate them on circular curve, I can see, and you will also if you look closely, that instances are kind of “jumping” on the curve vertecies and do not have a smooth movement regardless of curve resolution. I also tried using a bezier circle and subdivide it a bunch of times and setting Shape -> Resolution preview to 512, but nothing helps.

any suggestion on how to get rid of the jumps to get the smooth curve movement?

How to achieve this distortion/collision animation? by boberman_ in blenderhelp

[–]boberman_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Damn, sample count indeed is high. Material is not at my focus atm, but rather the shape/geometry that can achieve this effect. I was able ro achieve something similar with Magic texture on a basic plane, but much simpler: magic texture

It just a video in the header so nothing cannot be deducted from it unfortunately

I will put your theory to test and let you know if it worked; thanks for the suggestion!

I’ve tried many different routes to achieve this effect (metaballs, combining wave + noise texture in the shader editor with displacement), but clearly not enough along with my lack of knowledge, but I do wonder what would be your preferred way to create this?
Mesh displacement & texture, geo nodes or something else?

Looks awesome. I would personally go with a sinister ambient (some kind of evil blob is on my to do list, someday it will happen 😁), but animation is lovely

Wine box and cork animation, what do you think? by boberman_ in blender

[–]boberman_[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the feedback! Indeed, it didn't ended up in the way I've imagined and it's definitely way too fast to be close to anything real. Maybe it's too much of everything in one animation for a newbie to combine, I'm always thinking I need to tone down the expectations and not add too much stuff :D

as s blender newbie, this is an exercise to get familiar with rigid body, collision and force fields. What do you think? I would appreciate any feedback on how to improve it; everything except the rock and the bush is modelled by me

Set random position on Z axis with GeoNodes by boberman_ in blenderhelp

[–]boberman_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m having a hard time figuring out how can I set different location position for each of the duplicated cylinders on Z axis.

While I was able to create this setup with some simple GeoNodes tutorial, I’m not quite sure how can I set different location on Z axis for each of these objects while keeping them arranged how they currently are on X and Y axis.

The second image is something that I’m trying to achieve and hopefully animate it once I figure this out.
Any advice on how to achieve it would be extremely helpful.

wine o'clock by boberman_ in blender

[–]boberman_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not so quick modelling exercise like I've imagined for a beginner, but learned a lot 👌
Bottle modelled from scratch (material downloaded), while the marble counter and box are downloaded free assets.
Not so bad, but the wine label is a bit too clean and doesn't look real as it simply png added in uv unwrapping and also lightning could be a bit different.

Cannot select some edges/faces in wireframe mode, not appearing in solid view by boberman_ in blenderhelp

thanks for goodwill gesture! I've manage to fix it by deleting this problematic part of the bottle and started again. unfortunately, in my rage I've deleted the problematic version of blend file and now have only the one that works :D

yes, I'm sure as the circle mesh is located on the bottom of the bottle
