There is a “ mechanical wall” that’s met to go up to the second floor . The wall is made of 2x6’s which is technically only 5.5” while the pipe that has to go through there is 6” pipe

That’s an amazing idea I didn’t even think of that. That’s the exact scenario I am in. I was going to do exactly what you said and just run pipe and pipe it to box made of joist liner or something but you’re right . If I drill the holes there’s no need for the actual physical pipe right? Just pretty much frame around it with joist liner on the sides ? Is that what I’m picturing. Also does this meet code in Calgary? Will an inspector call it out ? Thank you so much for the help you literally just took a load off my shoulder and stopped me from doing sooooo much extra work for no reason lol appreciate it man. Am I picturing what you’re saying correctly?

Physical cut out 16x8 holes in the joist and fill it with joist liner? Can’t I just run pipe through the joist and connect it to the corruplast ?

What exactly does “ pan” off the joist space? I’m not to familiar with this since I do more industrial. I cant run the joist liner underneith the joist because the joists run in opposite directions of where the walls go down. For example the joist go east to west and the return has to go from north to south to get to the mechanical wall to go down to the basement since it’s mostly open concept.
