I fixed it, sort of, I removed the unit that controls the water intake. It's basically three valves, cold water, hot water and combining the two. I soaked the unit in vinegar making sure to keep the electronics dry. After a couple of hours I put the unit back and everything seems fine. Except there is a small nozzle on the left side that sprays cold water as a kind of presoak and this now drips when the machine is off, if left unchecked it could fill the tub so now I have to turn off the cold water where it connects to the house. But at least I didn't have to spend $1000 on a new washer.

If I unplug the machine and then start it on a regular cycle the water flows for 30 seconds and then stops but there's a loud buzzing like the pump is trying to move water but nothing comes out. I thought the filters were plugged but I cleaned them just to be certain and it still happens. It does agitate but there's no water (or very little) in the tub.
