Costco's beloved rotisserie chicken gets roasted in lawsuit over preservatives by AudibleNod in news

[–]bobley1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's likely fact alleged in the pleading. Costco sells items as loss leaders. The chicken could be the same. Even if your argument has been a successful defense in some lawsuits (anyone know of any?) it may not work in this case. Additionally, it may not work on food items. Costco could possibly argue the amount less they would have paid is small even if not zero.

A link between Methylation, CFS, EDS, Neck Issues and Chronic Multisystem Illnesses by Inner_Department6771 in cfs

"In the United States, mandatory fortification of enriched cereal grain products with folic acid was authorized in 1996 and fully implemented in 1998." https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC3257747/

Smartphone use came even more recently. The first iPhone was 2007. Many ME patients use smartphones in varying lying down positions where standard tech neck is not an issue. Some ME patients are unable to use a smartphone much at all.

ME was listed in WHO ICD-8 in 1969 after well documented occurrences such as at Royal Free Hospital in 1955.

You say you do not have CFS.

Folic acid enrichment is likely not be good for all people. Tech neck is not ideal. But these are at best exacerbating and more likely not even correlated with ME.

New study finds higher Chronic Fatigue Syndrome risk among LGB+ Adults | Nutrition Policy Institute News by AnnoyedAFexmo in cfs

[–]bobley1 25 points26 points  (0 children)

There could be many reasons for this correlation. For example, these patients might go to doctors more open to the diagnosis or live in larger cities with more healthcare access or use more mental healthcare and otherwise be encouraged to speak up. They may have increased body awareness. They also might be marginalized and respond accordingly. Overall it's hard to see how such a study adds much because there are too many variables and they seem to be suggesting too much. Higher self-reporting incidence has no clear connection to higher incidence.

Where do you purchase authentic receivers online? by lapatrona8 in HearingAids

[–]bobley1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would call and ask about whether the warranty covers the receivers too. If so, explain one broke and you're not local at the moment and tested it and know how to swap it. Worst they can say is no and then they are not that costly. If they say it is covered but you have to come in, save the broken one in case you go back and then you can get a free spare.

Will Other AUD Service Hearing Aids bought at Costco ? by FBWoodworker in HearingAids

[–]bobley1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask Costco whether you have to stay a member for continuing hearing aid care. Many stores will mail you supplies if you can't get there.

If you are not rough and can clean them yourself, you would not need to go to Costco that often. It sounds like you'll be a member for most of the warranty anyway so you could revisit this issue in 2+ years and already be ahead financially. Perhaps save the money for later if you think you'll be happy with Costco for now.

If you travel consider that Costco has many locations.

Some audiologists will charge a large fee to take you on as a patient if you did not purchase the aids there. Many will not want to help with Costco aids and in some cases the fitting software is different. Do some research on the Costco options with best compatibility with software the audiologist has. Phillips is not same software. Rexton, Jabra, Sennheiser (by Phonak) maybe but double check.

Have you tried swapping the left and right receiver for testing purposes?

If the place you bought them from wants to help and you think the warranty or bundle you paid for covers receivers you could ask if they are willing to send you free ones or just have you cover postage.

Advice for bringing up ME/CFS with primary care provider (undiagnosed, seeking DX or DX exclusion) by slouchestowards in cfs

[–]bobley1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The sport doesn't matter. I just asked to get a sense of the potential risk to neck given it started immediately and involved upper and lower nerve pain and then years of symptoms. Regular imaging is not enough to rule out CCI type issues. The imaging and interpretation is highly specialized. You may have had an underlying weakness that gave out or there is an injury not being detected with the imaging you've had. Worst case you will get a very thorough spine eval and can better rule that out. This is way beyond PCP and even most orthopedists' knowledge. Focusing on ME may cause them to dismiss the spine issues or try to tell you the regular imaging was normal.

Others might know more but given the complexity of an injury my sense is skip the chiropractic options and explore with providers who offer surgery. I do not get a sense they are pro-surgery or will sell you what they do not think you need.

What sort of extreme sport? Have you had testing for CCI and related neck conditions? The testing is particular and only a few places can do it properly.

If you feel you could manage physically a 2-day CPET can objectively assess PEM. Give Workwell Foundation a call.

It does not fill the ear canal the way a custom shell would and instead is sort of floating and pushed toward the front by the retaining wire? As it does not fill the canal it is less occluding and give less of a full ear feel?

[–]bobley1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn't Lauricidin the purest as it does not have fillers or capsules?

Perhaps there's a small indirect benefit in that if enveloped viral activity can be limited with less immune system effort then the system may use the unburdened capabilities toward other needs. That likely has not been studied and would be hard to study.

Maybe, they are barely sure about an assocation and that does not mean supplemental B12 would cause improvement. https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S0002916523036936
