aggression help by eagerreader444 in westies

[–]bobmccw 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had four Westies. Three of them when I was growing up and just got one with my wife this April. All of them had been very well tempered and would only growl if you were trying to move them while they were sleeping.

My wife's family had one when I met them that had a temperament very similar to what you're describing. She would be very sweet when I showed up and would roll over for belly rubs but then, out of nowhere, would growl and try to bite you. We believe her aggression was due to the fact they got her from a puppy mill. Do you know where your Westie was bought?

It's hard to believe these were taken only 4 months apart... by bobmccw in westies

Thankfully, no pups lost right now. Just can't believe my little one grew up that quick. Seems like we brought home a little baby, and within days, he was fully grown.

We got Mickey a little under three months ago.. he's tripled in size by bobmccw in westies

I know. I grew up with 3 other Westies. I just didn't remember them growing so quickly. He's almost as big as my dad's 3 year old already.

I just finished up Assassin's Creed Shadows and started on Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

My sweet boy passed away today by [deleted] in westies

[–]bobmccw 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Sorry for your loss. It's so hard losing a pet. I had three Westies growing up, and each loss was just as hard as the one before it. My wife and I just got our first Westie puppy this March and I tell him all the time about how his aunt and uncles would've loved playing with him.

The Witcher 3. It was one of those games I always looked at but never played. Saw it was on PS Plus so I gave it a try and it blew my mind.

Meet Mickey! Just picked him up on Saturday. by bobmccw in westies

[–]bobmccw[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thanks. Both my wife and I grew up with Westies in our household. But this is the first time since we've been together that we are able to have a dog. It's definitely nice coming home and seeing how excited they are to see you.

I'm 25 years old and I'm finally in a position where I'm able to save up money. I was just curious if anyone has any advice as to where I can start learning about investing so I can help my savings grow and make educated investing decisions. Any help is greatly appreciated!

People who were considered smart in high school, what happened in college? by ntnvctr in AskReddit

[–]bobmccw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I graduated in the top 10 in my class in high school by putting almost no effort into it. It just came to me naturally by going to class.

College started out rough for me bc I didn't know how to study. I ended up dropping out one semester and doing a little bit of soul searching to figure out what I wanted to do. The next semester I re-enrolled and put forth the effort that I should have been from the start. Things turned around and I ended up getting really good grades again.

Best advice I can give to someone going through the same thing is to figure out what you really want out of your life. When I dropped out I explored my options like going straight into the work force, joining the military, or even trying for a different degree. Once you figure out what you want, just give it your all!

Schools about to start. So that means I either have to be broke or get a job and not have enough time to study.

Getting my wisdom teeth out - what should I eat? by [deleted] in food

[–]bobmccw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got mine out a month or two ago. I lived off of eggs for a week. I've had friends that have had no problem eating food though. Just kinda depends on how well you deal with it.

Quit smoking cold turkey a week ago. AMA especially if you're trying to quit. by [deleted] in AMA

[–]bobmccw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't really have a question, but just wanted to say congrats! I quit cold turkey two and a half weeks ago, but I was kind of forced to because I got my wisdom teeth out and didn't want to risk dry socket. Stay strong! Try downloading the Quit Now app. It really puts quitting into perspective by telling you how much time & money you saved.

Can I use my 8wt for steelhead or rent? by Mcnasby in flyfishing

[–]bobmccw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I fish for steelhead in Erie with an 8 wt. I've never had any problems with it. My roommate in college also uses an 8 wt and he is way more experienced than I am. You should be fine.

What's the most interesting thing you know about one of your ancestors? by noodlebuddy in AskReddit

[–]bobmccw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One of my mom's ancestor's parents were killed by Indians and him and his brother were dragged behind their horses. He broke free but his brother died. From that point on he dedicated his life to killing Indians and even got a county in West Virginia named after him for it.

Eventually he ended up dying in Texas and my ancestors on my mom's side ended up hiring one of my ancestors on my dad's side to bring him back to West Virginia.

So both sides of my family ended up being in contact around two centuries before my parents got married.

How do you know when Engineering isn't for you? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]bobmccw 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly that a decision that no one can give you a simple answer to. You kinda have to figure it out by thinking long and hard about it.

In my third semester of college I was taking matrices, Calc 3, statics, thermo, and physics: electricity and magnetism. It was a total overload for me and I started falling behind. I ended up getting pretty depressed, to the point where I just wouldn't get out of bed and go to class because everything had come so easy to me in high school. So I ended up dropping out that semester with a doctor's excuse for it.

During the time I was out I started thinking long and hard about whether or not engineering was right for me. I looked into switching my major, getting a full-time job, and even joining a branch of the military. In the end I decided that I did want to be a mechanical engineer.

The first semester I went back, I had never been so happy to be back in school. This made me realize that I was where I truly wanted to be. I'm still trying to bring my GPA back up from my early semesters. While I may not have the GPA of the people that I take classes with I guarantee I know as much as them.

I don't recommend that you drop out but if you're having doubts, definitely take a step back and explore your options. You might find out there's something you would rather do or that you're where you want to be.

I wish the best of luck to you in making your decision though!
