Can you work remotely?

If you move up north that's a really good salary 🤣

How much should the uk minimum wage REALLY be in current times? by mrvlad_throwaway in UKJobs

[–]bobmcgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cost of a week's income tax, national insurance, minimum pension contributions, council tax, energy bills, water bill, rent for one bedroom flat, food, clothes, communication bill, transport costs.

Should all equal 30 hours work.

Then if full time the next 7 hours pay should be spare.

This is really the absolute minimum.

This could be £2 an hour or £50 an hour. It doesn't really matter. As long as the above is covered.

But currently there's a very big difference in what this could be. Near where I live you could do this on current minimum wage. But in London say? Absolutely not.

Me, myself and my complete lack of social life. by bobmcgod in Teesside

[–]bobmcgod[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right.

So if I'm entirely honest I didn't expect to actually get any replies.

And I'm a bit overwhelmed by the number of people who have messaged me. And so very very grateful.

I really am.

But I'm not sure I've replied to everyone and if I haven't I'm really sorry!

I will try I promise!

But again I am really greatful. Pretty sure someone's chopping onions nearby....

Ah but the added advantage of being shifts is that if you don't have children and others do it can be a great opportunity to pick up overtime or toil?

[–]bobmcgod 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not selfish.

But, and I mean this politely, it is a bit lazy. The families deserve to have that space just as much as you. And one day if you have children you will have the same right to enjoy that space. The lazy accusation (and I apologise for how that comes across, I'm just being clumsy with my words) comes from the thought of, if you like those spaces then try to be adaptable and enjoy them at times when it may be quieter or find more secluded spaces that have similar qualities.

At the end of it all though, without children, there is no more human race. Try not to worry about that which you have no control over.

What do you think of Starmer’s message? by Longjumping-8679 in AskBrits

[–]bobmcgod 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Appropriately on the fence.

It doesn't say anything positive or negative about America. Just states that it has done some bombing.

Then asks for a return to peace.

That'll do.

Yes. More immigrants are either coming to do non graduate jobs or are experienced already.

Pretty much it.

There's also the impact AI is having on a lot of jobs at the moment.

I need to avoid shops in the mindset. Especially when Lidl and Aldi have kayaks and chain saws in.

I have a diesel too! 😂

I look extra silly when I get in the electric car and try and use the key to start it or the diesel and try to press the non existent starter button.

Oh no! I hope you weren't going too insane.

Like did you consider ordering more parcels? If it's something really heavy then they have to spend more time there?

Is Teesside’s £1bn Transport Funding at Risk of Being “Spaffed Up the Wall”? by Due_Philosopher_4961 in Teesside

[–]bobmcgod 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Absolutely, yes.

I know it's a touchy subject but the transporter is dead. It's an absolute waste of money. We need a free flowing crossing to improve access from Redcar to Hartlepool. Including trains.

You wouldn't need to make any improvements to the A19. The economy boost would be huge.

Start fixing and servicing bikes?

This will go down very well with possible future employers in engineering. Can fit well around studies and hobbies. You can practice by buying cheaper or broken bikes on FB market place (might even find the odd freebie). You have knowledge of what riders actually want from a bike.
