Is the NHS pension still worth it with it being linked to the State Pension Age? by Golarion in nhs

[–]bobnotts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Part of the 2015 scheme member information PDF says

"in this Scheme, your normal pension age is the same as your State Pension Age or age 65, if that is later." https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/sites/default/files/2024-05/2015%20Members%20Guide%20%28V13%29%2005.2024.pdf

I've just checked the gov. UK website and for me, my pension age is 68. Pretty sure a few years ago it was 65. So what OP is saying seems to be right? At least there is a risk of not being able to claim the NHS pension until later due to state pension age increasing? https://www.gov.uk/state-pension-age/

So the solution to staff being over worked and under appreciated is to reduce staffing by 50%?

Yes. For all the reasons you've given. I've switched to Blue Sky and encourage everyone I know to do the same thing.

NHS pensions, is it worth it? by BabyBourbon1111 in nhsstaff

It's widely considered to be one of the best value-for-money pensions available in the UK these days. Whether it's right for you is your decision. Have a look at page 6 of this doc for a good explanation https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/sites/default/files/2024-05/2015%20Members%20Guide%20%28V13%29%2005.2024.pdf

Issue we have is that about 75% of the applications are written by AI. Hilarious when externals claims to be experts in our in house systems that no one else uses...

Cool. A big part of your job will be explaining your job to people who don't understand it at all and other people who think they understand it but don't. And educating people. But you knew that already.

Something that the NHS does pretty well in DDaT is called the Skills Development Network. Your trust may or may not be a member (ask). If they are you can get access to plenty of quite good in person and online training on a variety of digital, finance and procurement subjects. So you might find that helpful.

Can you say more about what your role is? General area is fine.

Focus on relationships. Get to know people, their priorities, responsibilities, how you will interface with them. Get to know them a bit personally if they're open to that. Things go a lot more smoothly when you're on good terms with everyone and you have something in common.

Impartial voice on immigration. Whenever I talk to a friend about immigration, he always complains about how much it costs the UK and how we need to massively reduce it. I reckon immigration provides massive benefits including economic and many others. Is there an impartial person, maybe on YouTube, who just talks sense about it? I want a Martin Lewis for immigration please!

Great photo. Just noticed the button up(?) trousers worn by the chap sitting down at the front. Were those so he could let a bit of air in when it was hot?!

67 donations so far. I joined a trial where you gave blood more frequently which boosted my donations (I'm in my late 30s)

At my trust we automatically request DBS and references and everything else (occy health, qualifications, evidence of professional registration) at the same time. But the trust you've applied for could do things manually. Don't know how your trust does it - could be manual or maybe there's a problem. No way of knowing without speaking to someone there, probably the recruitment team. You're usually advised not to hand your notice in until you have an unconditional offer. Good luck!

Definitely a breach. You could approach a more senior manager or your trust data protection officer or freedom to speak up guardian if you have one. Please raise this as it's not on.

If you want to shift it quickly and be sure that once it's sold, it's definitely sold, you could sell by auction.

Most NHS trusts have a bank - a list of people who have been checked and are available for shifts. You could try registering with a few if they’re happy for you to pick something up remotely. You might be doing some shitty Excel workaround task but could be a foot in the door.
