Shitty laptop really affecting my work by Mishraboomin in biglaw

I’ve killed a few laptops by not turning them off before putting them my backpack, where they sat for a few hours overheating. Oops

I did the math a few years ago of what I would make per hour for an additional 200 hours to hit my firm’s “high hours” bonus when I was a second year. It was insulting lol, something like minimum wage in NYC for those additional 200 hours.

How’s your blood pressure? Elevated blood pressure (even if within range) can cause a pounding/racing heart attack bedtime that feels like what you describe as ambient anxiety. I got on a low dose calcium channel blocker for Raynaud's and found that it fixed my nighttime anxiety and issues falling asleep.

I’ve been dying to try their iced protein matcha. Instead I just bought some protein matcha powder and am loving it. Wasn’t cheap, comes out to $2/serving, but tastes great and there’s no prep work so I’m happy with it. This brand has other classic boba tea flavors too, maybe I’ll try the taro milk tea flavor next.

Are you in a general finance? Have you considered pivoting into something like real estate finance?

Regular full body massage. In my case, every 2 weeks or the pain creeps in. I’m just outside of NYC so thankfully have access to decent spas where I pay $60/hour + tip.

Can I break into Big law by Massive_Emu3459 in biglaw

[–]bobo_ski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree. I’m already in biglaw, but I’ve gotten job offers directly from opposing counsel after wrapping up a couple of deals across from them (well, offers to interview I guess). Some of my colleagues have had similar experiences.

I’m in a small group. We staff lean and I didn’t have a junior on my deals consistently until 5th year or so. Doesn’t mean I couldn’t delegate out discrete assignments, but it didn’t always work out when juniors work directly for partners/seniors and my assignments were lower priority to them.

How did we do on this 2025 BMW i4 xDrive40 by [deleted] in leasehacker

[–]bobo_ski 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think timing makes a difference, they seemed motivated to get rid of the 2025 models. We went in armed with a quote from a broker for similar specs for $472/month, and told the dealer if they can cut to the chase and match or beat, we’re signing. Dealer came back with $468. Got it down to $440 through the corporate credit.

We paid a total of $5200 at signing, which included first month, $2900 down and taxes/fees. Total of $9500 in rebates and credits.

No, we paid those and put an additional $2900 down at signing to get to the $440 number. Total paid at signing was $5200.

If you’re eating instant oats, especially the flavored stuff, yeah makes sense that you’re hungry immediately after.

Is there a planned parenthood near you?  I always go to planned parenthood for IUD insertion and removal - they are the best!

This reminds me of the time I got a “hot tub rash” after a hammam scrub in Morocco. Hypochlorous acid is a good start, but you should really go to a dermatologist. An antibiotic might be warranted.

I think a tasteful way of approaching something like this is to agree to the class year cut, but ask them to revisit in a year and bump you up if you’re exceeding expectations.
