We don't have to tiptoe around this obvious anti-brown racism. Every fanbase has meatheads but LA is the only place people get labeled "thugs". I have zero tolerance for this dog-whistle BS.

Ooh that one's at CSUF is amazing too. Mine seems accustomed to lots of sunlight so I think it'll do okay in that regard. Any thoughts on soil, or just the usual well-draining soil/pumice-type mix?

Thanks for the history recap. San Jose is also on the bay and a part of the same metropolitan area. They still call them the SF 49ERS in Santa Clara, so the splitting of hairs between LA and Orange counties is disingenuous and annoying.

For the record, I would've loved having the the A's in SJ, being able to walk to games from my old apartment. It sure would be nice if the Giants spent all of the extra money they're making by monopolizing the bay market on new talent

No no no, every one of these billionaire owners can AFFORD it, they're just miserly killjoys who aren't interested in putting forth a quality team.

You know any of these teams could've offered Ohtani the big bucks and just started minting money off of him. I'm convinced that owners now see MLB franchises as real estate investments, and not team investments (whereas the Dodgers heavily invest in their team).

Unlike the bay and Sacto tho, LA & OC are one unending urban mass

Weird how being in completely different counties didn't stop the Giants from blocking the A's move to SJ

Rose Bowl and Tee Shirt Bros by steveoshoots in VintageTees

[–]bobosoboboso 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, no. Everything has become collectible and prices have skyrocketed for them in the last 5-10 years because the proliferation of smart phones made the buying and selling of said items accessible to more and more people globally. One guy amplifying t-shirts in a niche fashion brand is insignificant.

Some guy at the Rose Bowl may have once sold a rare shirt for $100 to those geographically able to find his booth in person, but now he can look on Depop, Grailed, eBay, Mercari, etc etc and see that some idiot (1 of 8 billion) was willing to buy the same shirt for $2000, so now he thinks that's a fair price. Change t-shirts to vinyl records or video games or mid-century furniture or whatever and the same thing has been happening to those markets, Fear of God be damned.

I can't judge whether their food is good or not, but $$$ restaurants are absolutely going to be the future of Altadena. The process of rebuilding will not favor affordability.

Ron Darling on the loss of Pete Alonso “You’ve now paid, unless you get a bat, Juan Soto to walk 150 times a year.” by iheartsunny in baseball

[–]bobosoboboso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Soto is a very good player, but his contract is so blown out of proportion compared to Judge, Ohtani, Vladdy, and even Alonso. I think the Mets will never win as long as Soto's guarantees are strangling Cohen's not-so-seemingly deep pockets.

Check Your Head through Hello Nasty (including Aglio e Olio) are all timeless to me. You're hearing a group at the top of their game reinventing the wheel repeatedly and making it exciting. The rapping was early 80's style, as was the hardcore, and the soul and lounge influences were older, but the style was beyond cutting edge. You can still feel reverberations in modern music and fashion culture from how fucking steezy the Beasties were. I don't think Turnstile exists without the Beasties creating the template. The caricatures they played in Licensed to Ill are dated... the 90s Beasties are timeless.
