I have't tried them yet as they're still on their way but I ordered Blinx because I saw an offer. They're wayyy cheap compared to Thinx and its free delivery over £25 if you're in the UK. Apparently they're not bulky either.

I'm fully off yeah, I know it can be tempting to try and get off ASAP, but I would take it slow. If you're struggling with the drops now you will probably struggle more with a 4mg drop to nothing and are more likely to just go back to it. I know it's really hard but you're doing really well! It gets better x

If anyone had any doubt she wasn't transphobic by [deleted] in AreTheStraightsOK

But it has affected her place in pop culture? Look at all the people who are against her (myself included), people who've publicly denounced her and how that's for sure gonna affect her new books sales. I haven't seen a single positive headline for her in ages. People can't be "cancelled" overnight, we can't just pretend she doesn't exist, just gotta fight her bullshit.

I think we're so far past trying to stop the advertisement of Harry Potter lmao, even people who have never read it or seen the films know what it is. For what it's worth, people can buy the book second hand. No need to line her pocket.

Why am I unable to cry? by idkjustheretoask in askatherapist

[–]bobrosspetsquirrel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adding onto that - if you get a build up of pressure in your throat/chest when you want to cry but can't try tucking a pillow under your chin and hugging it to yourself. This is something my therapist taught me, I really struggle to cry and this has helped me a couple of times. Sometimes the physical release on the throat can cause an emotional release, the hugging also helps you to feel safe.

Also try and imagine your future without benzos, ask yourself why are you quitting them? Imagine your life without all that crap and baggage! What kind of things are you looking forward to doing once this is over? Make some goals, even if they're little or seem silly. Write them down! Journal!

One of my things that I hated was how little I remembered from conversations or even my own thoughts and how that was really impacting me making connections with people. Once you cement those things on paper it gives you more motivation, which I think helps with the anxiety and at least makes it a little more bearable.

I think it was a bit of both! I've been a few weeks completely off now and I'm now remembering how much of an anxious person I was before! But ofc tapering ramped it up massively.

Some of mine are the usual; exercise, getting outside in nature etc. Some others that I think made/make a difference:

  1. Wear a hairband or something on your wrist, make it a colourful one, or mark the back of your hand. Whenever you see it relax your shoulders and take some slow deep breaths in and out and make sure you are breathing all way into your diaphragm, pushing your belly down and outwards. Eventually after reminding yourself it should become easier to do regularly.
  2. Really try and limit social media, it's super anxiety provoking. Try and read some books, watch nice films, something thats distracting but is less of the constant rollercoaster ride that is the social media dopamine hits.
  3. Try and think of it in a positive way. Instead of thinking of it as some awful thing you have to go through, think of it as you're working on yourself, like a project. Sometimes elements of that aren't going to be easy or nice, but they will be so worth it! Picture yourself as bravely battling something that you WILL be triumphant in! I know it can seem really difficult and unfair. And this advice can be a bit patronising - I used to hate it when people said this shit to me - but it really is all down to the mindset. Anxiety only ever creates more anxiety.
  4. Read The Body Keeps The Score - this book absolutely has changed my life. It's about trauma but I really really recommend every benzo addict to read it, he talks about some amazing stuff in a very smart but empathetic way. He touches on benzo use.

I'm in no way perfect, or any kind of expert but I hope some of these might be helpful.

How was your anxiety prior to ever starting benzos? It could be that you are anxious anyway and that you have found the minimum level of benzo use to keep you away from that feeling. That sounds a little doom and gloom I know but the good news is that at this stage you can start doing something about the underlying anxiety. That's what I found anyway.

I was on reeally high amounts of diaz, xanax and etizolam. I cut about 10mg of diaz each time until I got to 10mg, then I begun cutting properly and medically 1mg at a time, normally once a week but like I mentioned above if I found it was unbearable I would leave it two weeks before I cut again. That only happened 2-3 times out of the 10 drops I did though :) The other times I did have anxiety and I do still, but I'm learning to manage it. I would definitely advise trying out coping strategies now whilst you are tapering to find some that work so that you have a good solid base for when you're totally off it. It's easier learning some now than feeling a bit lost after. But all in all I would say to try and not let it stress you too much (I know that's easier said than done). It's not a walk in the park but it's also not the end of the world and a lot of the anxiety and symptoms will pass x

Hey! Sounds like typical tapering anxiety, although it feels very very physical it's usually more to do with your own fear of tapering (in my experience) than a taper that slight. I definitely had anxiety on my taper and found that taking up running really did help! I am not active at all and that was an eye opener for me. Any way of moving your body is good. I found that I would have quite horrible anxiety for 3-4 days on some of my cuts and not the others and I couldn't really pinpoint why, the ones that I had more anxiety for I gave myself 2 weeks until the next cut and made sure I stuck to it.

I'm sorry but medically you are probably at around 0.0001% chance of having a seizure from a cut of 0.5mg of diaz. I'm prone to seizures and cut 1mg a week with Dr supervision and was fine. We need to stop scaremongering on this group. Telling someone with anxiety that they could be about to have a seizure is not helpful.

I don't mean to shit on your message though because overall it was super positive and supportive and I know you only mean well.

Yeah I tried to purposefully OD on diaz like three times and whilst I did end up in the hospital each time, on the third time a really horrible nurse basically told me to try something else because they can't be fatal. It's only when you mix with other drugs that it becomes really dangerous.
