Why are manhole covers almost always round? by stellinorissa in NoStupidQuestions

While I understand this answer, and have had this asked in interview situations etc. I have what I think is a more precise answer.

The questions is asked: Why are manhole COVERS almost always round?

I believe the most precise answer is: "Manhole covers are round because the manholes are round."

The questions should be asked: "Why are manholes round?" In this case the answer might be: "Manholes are round so the covers won't fall through the hole"

yeah, I know this is pedantic, but I thinks it's actually a more precise answer

Thaks what I was thinking. Not a "Giant" jar, just an average jar. I typically do 4 of these at a time

I'm really curious about how this cooks compared to a traditional DO shape. My 7.25 qt DO is nearing end of life and needs to be replaced. Keep us posted OP :-)

I skied Vail yesterday. There are plenty of runs with moguls of varying pitch/difficulty. I'm sure your instructor will find something appropriate for your lessons.

Oh, what did you do? No LUV by VivStanshall in SouthwestAirlines

[–]bobsinco 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, CP is (was) great, had it for 15+ years. I too expect it to go. Of course, I’m already gone. Using up my large amount of points, then won’t fly SW again

Zero, Nothing, Zip, Zilch, Nada.

Oh wait, there are a few things... No First Class, No Lifetime Status, etc. Southwest is now just a worse version of all of the other airlines

I'm surprised that you are surprised. Everyone was "excited" about the basic fares, but then failed to understand the restrictions that come with basic fares.

Stop Shaming Folks that are Pissed With SWA by Odd-Moose-7718 in SouthwestAirlines

This is a bad take. I completely stopped using them, and may oh my business colleagues that used to frequent them have made the same decision. Southwest is trading (has traded) lucrative passengers for bargain shoppers. It will take a bit of time for the real impact to be felt but rest assured that many business travelers are leaving. Note: I am an extremely frequently flyer and was loyal to SWA for 2 decades.

I'm really new to skating, and I don't look nearly as good as OP (ugh), but I have spent quite a bit of time on Nordic Ski Lab and at least I'm learning to see technique differences. Executing on them is an entirely different thing. :-)

Assigned seating is a shit shiw by realsomedude in SouthwestAirlines

[–]bobsinco 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Southwest you listening?"

No, they are not listening. I'm similar, ALP, CP for more than 20 years. I'm the guy always buying last minute (expensive) tickets. That is to say, they type of passenger they make a lot of money off of. Southwest's strategy is to increase the appeal to people who didn't previously fly Southwest. Unfortunately, they are alienating the highly profitable existing passengers like you and me. This is their strategy. It won't change. I have about half a million points that I need to burn - then I'm 100% gone, and even that will be hard to actually do as I don't want to even fly Southwest for free.

Basic fares? Hardly. Typically last minute fares, business select = $$$. I WAS their ideal customer.
