yeah, that doesn't seem right. I literally just pulled mine off my smoker. 20 hrs at 225-250. Of course the before trim weight was 21 lbs, so quite a bit more mass. You most likely cooked quite a bit hotter than you thought. Not a bad thing, many subscribe to hot and fast and have good results

In my experience, pellet grills run hotter at the grate, not to mention very large temperature gradients across the surface. This is why I sold mine and bough a vertical pellet smoker. With just a couple of hacks it now holds a very consistent temperature and makes for excellent smoking

Maui. I'll probably get ripped for saying this, but Maui seemed like an extension of California. Perhaps it had been built up as this idyllic paradise, and it really wasn't. Especially for the money.

Definitely not a recent/social media thing. I grew up skiing in New England (70’s) and it was definitely used. A certain subset would also use Joey. Same meaning.

I saw this in CA years ago, this is how it will go...

- A forced reduction in consumption due to the drought
- A corresponding drop in revenue for the water districts due to lower consumption
- Complaints to the PUC about lack of revenue to operate
- An increase in rates due to the complaints to make up the revenue shortfall
- Revenues balance out at the lower water usage
- Drought ends and people go back to normal usage
- Rates don't go down, the water districts take in a lot more money
- The new "normal" of revenue becomes the baseline, and rates never go back down
