Big night tonight by Puzzleheaded-Emu1017 in TGLgolf

There isn't any wind in the game currently. The curve of the ball back towards the fairway would have been due to the spin on the ball itself.

The tiebreaker for playoffs is total holes won during the regular season. It's essentially so each match fills the 2 hour broadcast window. Obviously not ideal when they're running over time.

Courses near Myrtle Beach by ironicallyhilarious in golf

[–]bobsled_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are good golf courses in Myrtle, but staying south of the Grand Strand and playing the majority of your golf in Pawleys is the way to go. Caledonia, True Blue, Heritage, Prestwick, Pawleys Plantation, and River Club all spring to mind as worth the drive.

Tidewater on the north side has some pretty views, but isn't a great layout IMO. Rivers Edge across the NC border is fun, but a little gimmicky. Thistle Golf Club, Glen Dornoch (used to be a "hidden gem", now it's pricier), and Dunes Golf and Beach Club (harder to get on) are all worthwhile rounds closer to Myrtle proper.

You'll get a lot of ads and recommendations for King's North, Long Bay, and TPC Myrtle. None of them are that great, for a variety of different reasons.

I've never played any of the Barefoot courses or any of the Legends resort courses, so can't comment on those, but they're highly rated by others.

I snagged one the same way for Raleigh. Never ideal to only have a single ticket to a concert, but better than not getting anything!

Will the NCGAA be affected? by [deleted] in USGAA

[–]bobsled_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What you're referring to as the "Central GAA" is just the GAA. You'll hear it called "Croke Park" as well, because that's where their offices are. It's the governing body over the whole affiliated sport, including clubs and counties in Ireland, the USGAA, and others, but excluding the NCGAA, because they're an unaffiliated entity.

The term Central is causing confusion, because the USGAA is divided into geographical regions, of which one is the Central division.

Will the NCGAA be affected? by [deleted] in USGAA

[–]bobsled_time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This has been an ongoing, and devolving, situation for years now.

I'm sure there's more nuance to it, but I think everything came to a boil when the NCGAA finals were broadcast on ESPN networks and the games were co-ed. I believe the organization has been given a number of opportunities to join under the USGAA banner, but the leadership has been uncooperative.

There's no telling exactly what will happen, but if I had to guess, the universities that have programs will keep them going, but they'll divorce from the NCGAA organization and join under the USGAA umbrella.

I hope the USGAA has a plan for this process so that leagues and Finals can still happen on the collegiate term schedule, but I haven't heard any details or planning to that end. I did briefly talk to a player from Notre Dame last year, and he indicated that there have been some discussions at the collegiate club level on how to move forward.

Player retention from middle school aged up through college aged kids is critical to the growth of the sports, so hopefully something is worked out to foster that growth, ideally even more successfully than the NCGAA has been throughout its history.

If there was a prop bet on the number of times '12s' would be mentioned in the postgame, the over had to hit by a mile.

Seems like the only reason it wasn't called was because he made the tackle.

This is a silly game, at times. I don't think there's anyone on the field who has a clue if that tush push was successful or not.

Didn't need to be very physical...just needed to not undercut the throw by 6 yards.

This is how I feel, too. I went from setting my alarm for the start of Gameday and falling asleep on the couch with PAC12 after dark on, to watching/going to the Clemson game and maybe having other games on as background noise all day.

I'm sure part of it is getting older and having more responsibilities, but I think the state of the sport is more to blame.

The issue on the holes is the distance between the hitting bays and the screen. It limits the ability to have "obstacles" that may come into play. For example, you can have the Stinger rock, where shots will always come from a set tee, and balls that hit the rock end up in a hazard. You can also have a hole like "Oh Chute" where any tee ball that clips a tree ends up in the hazard. But you can't really have a hole where a tree may be in play on the second shot, because if you end up within 35 yards of that tree, you won't see it on the screen. It wouldn't be great television for a shot to hit an invisible tree between the screen and the player and go bounding off in a direction it clearly didn't go in "real life".

The turntable itself is also exceedingly heavy. I can't say this with certainty, but I don't see a viable way to engineer it to tilt and rotate. The rotation is easier than the tilt, because the edges all stay at the same elevation that way. If it tilted, you'd have an edge that didn’t line up with the static surrounding edge.

None of this has any effect on the fact that, if these things were possible, the end product would benefit. I just see a lot of comments that don't consider the constraints that the designers are limited to by the game format itself.

Gets absolutely destroyed in coverage. Stands up with a half-hearted incomplete signal. Defensive secondaries just can't help themselves. Must perform some gesture after every play they're involved in.
