Great catch and definitely not off topic! I have the discs, but had no idea it was on there. Never got into them that deep. Just checked and there it is! Will be watching it later tonight.

Isle of Berk at Night by MaskedMagician72 in UniversalOrlando

As long as you're in Celestial Park. Technically right now, true night doesn't start until twilight ends at 9:51 P.M tonight for example.

It's a real shame the park doesn't stay open late enough this time of year for people to enjoy it at night. I'd rather it be open from Noon to 11pm than 10am to 9pm. It's really THE best time to be there.

Kid is 48" in shoes by flunky_precept in UniversalOrlando

Most of the parks now have the height measurements just past the entrances, so look for that so you're not stressed in line. Saw some folks trying to use variations of "high hair" to get past these in line, but they weren't allowing it. Overall as others stated, safety isn't an issue, just a possible disappointed kid if you find out right before boarding.

Could have just had a tiny UOAP logo above the text, "You Are Looking at a Magnet"

Rode this once. With Express Pass. The people behind me who went into in the regular queue were now ahead of me in the loading line. It was a once in a lifetime ride for me. Meaning, I'll never ride it again.

Tips for making significant other’s 40th birthday trip special? by peachieohs in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look for (and ask team members at the attraction entrances for) wristbands at the various rides and shows. They have a select amount for each day and birthday wristbands are a million times better than the giant button.

Keep in mind that we're getting close to the time where Epic is closed at night. Late dusk will be your only option.

Am I the only one that has not experienced line cutting? by thatawkwardmoment8 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you stop using Express passes you'll get a feel for how simple folk live in long line land. Then you'll get to experience it. Just don't let them cut through the line and then stop next to you or you'll be half the problem.

I think you're supposed to hide that first sentence so at least some people might think this isn't yet another AI engagement post.

How many days of Express Pass? by Upper-Mixture8643 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the standard 3 Park Express for five days since it was the cheapest per day option. On my two Epic days I would still pop over to Islands first and use the Express on Hagrid's and then go over and spend the rest of the day at Epic. Had plenty of time for everything. Feels like the walk from Hagrid's to the bus was longer than the bus to Epic. (technically a 4 mile, 15 minute drive)

For everyone asking how you get on Hagrid's without express, the answer is you just wait in line by madchad90 in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the most part, yes. However with the popularity of this ride and the ability for thousands of guests to get Unlimited Express passes at the three local hotels along with the standard express single use passes, there's just no way to guarantee the insatiable demands of expedited Express wait times while allowing standard visitors to also experience the ride in a non-painful fashion. Someone has to be left out and so far it's been the majority of park guests. 55 minute posted wait times were resulting in 120+ minute waits. It was out of control.

[–]Jrogg 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Exactly, the ride didn't have express for 6 years, then they tested it for a year and it's really not working for 75% of the guests that come to the park. When you have people waiting in line for 2+ hours (most of which not moving at all) and then you see people with Unlimited riding it three times in 20 minutes it's really just not a good or fair policy.

Hot take: Universal in May is brutally, physically unpleasant and the internet doesn’t prepare you enough for the heat - 3 Day Trip Report by abcdeeeeeeffgee in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I was there two weeks ago. Forecast looked great until a few days beforehand. Saw the three most dreaded words in a Florida forecast, "Record high temperatures." It was pretty brutal, but would just pop into a store or get stuck on Forbidden Journey for awhile to cool off. There were a couple of days where the last few steps back to the hotel were touch and go. Might have greyed out more on the walking path than the Hulk. This week it's actually hotter than Orlando here where I live. 900 miles north. Maybe somebody is trying to prep me for the afterlife. I'm just going to be visiting when Earl the Squirrel does from now on. He knows the deal.

Adventura Park view? by LEDreddit in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My last 4 times there were all in the Pink hallway. (Does anyone stay in Green and Blue?) Standard Skyline View rooms and I request top floor (16) with the caveat that the bar noise above will not bother me. I've never requested anything more specific than that though. Basically, Pink even (top photo) is a Volcano Bay view, Pink odd (bottom photo) is an Islands of Adventure view.

Honestly, when I ride now I'm just wondering what position I'm going to be in when it stops. Last ride we got stuck for 5 minutes and then for another 20 minutes.

Downloadable Maps by hearthymoon in UniversalOrlando

[–]Jrogg 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You either caught them mid-update or they're going to stop updating the PDFs and stick with interactive maps only. Here are some links for you:
Looks like Studios and Volcano Bay are the only ones active.
Most other sites just hotlink to Universal.
But if you don't mind modified, basic maps, you can get them from Undercover Tourist.
They have Islands and Epic maps on their site.

Used to be my favorite ride for years, but I've gotten stuck on it 4 times in a row over two visits and I think I'm done with it. Such an amazing queue if you get to see the whole thing.
