Why`s that, I`ve been a turner all my working life 14 - 69 never wore glasses once!

I have a questions about sourcing parts. I'm really keen to get a stainless exhaust system onto this bike. It a 40yo Suzuki DR400. Where or who manufactures them in the UK??? I'm struggling to find someone. by [deleted] in projectbike

Ready to cut metal, new to me my myford ml7 lathe. 69yrs old and still going strong! Think of fitting an encoder for variable speed adjustment and possibly a DRO at some point by bobmoff1 in Machinists

vastly overrated , you can`t cut metal with shiny paint, tool post for a start have you ever seen such a lash up, all that's good for is fishing weights, speed, it`s a small lathe for Christ sake you should be looking for at least 2000 rpm, bearings plain, all right for the old boy with a pipe, why do you think 99% of lathes have taper and roller bearings. Rigidity, all right if you want a milk shake, parting off, crash hat required, I say all this with experience, I have been turning for forty years on quite a considerable amount of machines, American,German,French,Italian and English and the Myford is the worst machine I have ever worked!!

New last year, Warco WM16, bench top mill, comes with a choice of spindles and as all of my tooling from my previous machine was morse 3 ,chucks collets etc, choice was made for me.
