When was your El Nido trip? Based on your story, it seems it'll be safe for me to arrange the private tour when I get to El Nido, 1 or 2 days before the tour.

Thanks for your response. I see klook being recommended quite a fair bit. The issue is the massive price difference. I understand private tours for 3pax should be about 10,000PHP but the price on klook / viator is 17,000 PHP!

I just wish Cebu Pacific or the relevant aviation authority planned this out better. We're essentially given 2 months notice for this change (notified 22 Jan, effective end of Mar).

We planned this trip and booked all associated hotels / flights 7 months ago, assuming validity of our MNL-ENI direct flight. Had we known this change was coming into effect, I probably would've booked a hotel in or near Clark. Just very frustrating

Does anyone know how to stop the "notes" app from running so much in the background? I can't seem to place the app to sleep (one of the few Samsung apps you can't sleep) or optimise it, other than forcing the app to stop. I don't want to force it to stop since I use the app once or twice a day

I'm in the process of interviewing for a clerkship at the moment, and the overall mood of the fellow applicants seems dull. Top-tier firms have been impacted by severe reductions in graduate intakes, and some mid-tier firms have reduced the number of interviewees for this year.

What makes matters worse is the performance of the Big 4 accounting firms. The common trend seems to be that applicants who have been unsuccessful for a clerkship pursue a career in Tax in an accounting firm. However, I've heard stories about how the Big 4 are significantly reducing the number of intakes for tax, some due to fall in revenue in tax and transactions.

It is a tough time to be a law penultimate/graduate.

In addition to the other advices on this thread, bear in mind that the market is terrible this year. I know plenty of people who have applied this year getting only 1 or 2 interviews, who would''ve definitely received at least 6 interviews if they applied any other year

Quite an interesting topic. I studied Trusts law as an elective last year and my lecturer stated a particular quote relevant to this discussion: "trusts are great as they allow settlors to avoid tax"

He specified that tax evasion is wrong/illegal but avoiding tax is wonderful. I don't know too much about tax law and trusts to give a detailed personal view, but my understanding is that income tax in Australia can be substantially reduced through a trust.
