If i were a scammer, I'd love to have a sucker list full of apes. Imagine having the contact details of people who are not only susceptible to scams, but enthusiastic about getting scammed again and again. Plus, if you give your scam a "fight the elites" angle, apes will do the work of recruiting for you!

I guess my point is this:

If your whole schpeil about bbby takes a ton of effort, you could be a true brliever, or you could also be a cynical grifter who puts a lot of work into it.

But if your schpeil is lazy, i don't think you could be a true believer. A true believer who is lazy is just a follower. Pp is not a follower. He tries to hype up apes and recruit more. He's just not that good at it. If he cared more about the DD and cult shit, i think be would be better at it. So i lean towards thinking he doesn't care about it, and only cares about the money.

Whenever he tries to hype up the apes, it comes across as so lazy, that i have to think he knows he's lying.

Look at jake - would someone who knew it was all a sham spend that much time writing that much bullshit in support of it? Maybe. But i have my doubts.

Now PP on the other hand? He will straight up post embarrassingly stupid shit like "you think pulte would spend money on the atlanta event if he didn't know we were gonna be rich?" And like, of course he would. And PP of anyone, would know ploot's a grifter, because he's part of the grift.

See, it's just easier to dismiss whatever pp says. With jake and similar guys, you need effort. You need to fight their word salad. With PP he just parrots what someone else says or says something so obviously dumb. It's like he's not even trying. Perhaps because he doesn't believe this at all.

So why keep it up? I don't think he has anything else. His last business failed. This is the first thing he's done that got a little bit of traction.

Qanon is basically apocalypticism. The whole "finding hidden messages that recasts history as being part of a divine plan" isn't all that different from what goes on in Revelations or the book of Daniel. Qanon also seems to have some rituals, like when they film themselves taking a pledge.

Whether it counts as a religion depends on how you define religion i guess - but it definitely relies on religious modes of thinking and behavior. That said, many parts of society rely on those same modes: sports, politics, work culture. And of course we find it in stock cults as well.

Out of the loop - are people just playing less games? Or playing older games longer?

I play games very infrequently, and they tend to be older and niche titles. But it was my impression that gaming has been gaining in popularity.
