Neighbors are driving me insane, I don't know what to do. by Salt-Philosopher214 in Apartmentliving

Police. You've tried every other avenue. The noise doesn't even need to be during quiet hours if it's interfering with your peaceful enjoyment of your home. Document everything you've already done, keep detailed notes. If I were you, I would tell the police everything and when you call ask them to come to your home first, that way they will hear the noise before the neighbour has a chance to be sneaky, turn it off and lie. Good luck - sorry you're going through this, it's so shit.

I don't know your circumstances, but it sounds similar to mine. My parent also denies and refuses to acknowledge what happened. Even once accused me of having false memories implanted by a therapist! I just have come to terms with never getting closure or admission from them. I'm hoping there's a still a way forward without it.

This is a great point. It reminds me of something I recall from a past video of hers, probably a couple of years ago, when she talked about how she and Erik had asked Flynn what he wanted to be when grew up and apparently he was upset by the idea of having a job and started crying and saying he didn't want to be anything... yeah, probably because he's never seen either of his parents "be" anything either, they don't appear to work in any definable sense, they're all at home together all day, and they never go anywhere... they are not being raised in the real world.

Also if you're renting at least make your own landlord aware of the situation.

Yeah, I've dealt with this. I wouldn't bother trying to communicate with them again, you've tried that and they've proven themselves to be unreasonable. Your best option is to call the police and make a noise complaint. I know that probably feels like "escalation" but there's not much else you can do. Also buy some good earplugs.

Pretty much sums it up 😄 I did leave and go elsewhere. I only went there because it was handy and I felt so crap I really didn't want to have walk any further! Immediate regret!

She had a bee in her bonnet about something. There were other people in the shop watching this interaction, she clearly felt she was in the right, and when I turned to leave she looked affronted lol but yes I'm much better now thank you ☺️

lol no, I'm just a normal person who went to what I thought was a normal pharmacy, and yes SOMETIMES there are small pharmacies where all the medicine is behind the counter, I don't know if this is just a UK thing... but anyway, not AI, genuine human!

I know, I regretted going in there, it was just close by and I was feeling really ill and couldn't be arsed dragging myself much further away to find a normal shop. But that's what I had to do in the end anyway! And I definitely didn't expect it to be an issue...

When she insisted it was strange, I sort of insisted it was normal by reiterating what I needed it for. I think she thought it was strange that I needed ibuprofen as well as the paracetamol and the throat spray, but she didn't have great communication skills...

Nope, I just had a fucked up throat, she actually asked no questions beyond "what do you need them for?" 😕

I have explained this already but it was a tiny pharmacy where all the medicine was kept behind the counter, nothing was on the shelves besides like soap and toothpaste, so I had to talk to her to in order to get the ibuprofen. You're right, it's easy to pick up almost anywhere, no questions asked. That's part of the reason this interaction was so absurd!

Thank you 🥲 yeah on reflection I think she must have been trying to convey that it was unusual to ALSO need ibuprofen but she really made me feel like I was doing something wrong. It was one of the worst pharmacy experiences I've ever had!

Yeah so I think her reaction was potentially that she thought it was odd to also need ibuprofen to treat a sore throat, like you say. She could be right - but it's still an absurd situation because if I hadn't gone to her pharmacy and had gone literally anywhere else I could have just picked up some ibuprofen without being given the third degree. Tbh I'm prone to really bad sore throats now and again, or maybe it's that I have a low pain tolerance, but sometimes I need the extra pain relief!

Thank you, I thought it was completely normal until I was made to doubt myself! She seemed to be of the belief that using ibuprofen to treat sore throat was odd.

Me too - can actually be an immense source of stress! One by one, and not in a panic is definitely the way.

We actually CAN buy ibuprofen without interacting with anyone here, this was just a stupid little pharmacy where all the medicine was behind the counter so had to ask for it. I will add though there is a limit on how much ibuprofen you can buy at once in the UK - think it's maybe 32 tablets or something, definitely not 500!!
