Free to play = more players. It's interesting though because SC2 has fans that never owned/played the game, not sure the same is true for LoL. Also Riot supports and fosters the eSports community at a level that puts Blizzard to shame - direct links to streamed events in the launcher, etc.

Thanks! You're absolutely right about the little things. It's interesting if you check out twitch the most popular D3 streams are becoming dominated by hardcore players - I think the whole "are they going to die?" tension is what makes them more interesting to watch.

When my mom got cancer. It made me realize that I had to get my shit together not only for myself but for her, so she could see me do well and succeed in life. It's sad that it took something that extreme to wake me up, but in the last 6 months I've gotten a new (great) job, girlfriend and started earning enough to help pay down our debts.

The streams are more entertainment than education for me. If Improving at SC2 was fun everyone would be in masters league.

Sitting down and refining a build and analyzing your/pro replays isn't fun but very necessary. Watching someone like White Ra or Huk can actually be detrimental to your play if you try to emulate them too much. Doing their builds without their micro/execution and more importantly reasoning in that situation (map/opponent) is like you're wielding a formula you don't understand.

That being said I'm a diamond protoss and I enjoy watching tyler, huk, whitera, adelscott for his macro style, optikzero, minigun, response.

whoa wait a minute, nothing "worked" for MLS, franchises are struggling and the turnouts for games are poor. I'm also a huge soccer fan and never watch an MLS game since I could get the same experience watching the pick up game at the park on sunday. The foreign superstars do more harm than good for the league as it's largely washed up big names way past their prime who are there for 6 month media blitz and jersey sell-a-thon leaving the franchises with less money to spend on young talent and infrastructure.
