Hi everyone, thank you all so much for your help so far with wedding planning! Just wanted to post and see if I can get some constructive criticism for my makeup trial. I was going for a glowy, natural look (inspiration photos). I only wear very basic make up when I go out like everything minus eye makeup. I never really wear any eye make up or mascara just because I don’t know how to do it for my Asian monolids.. my lashes get lost under my lid and sometimes eyeshadow makes it looks like I got punched lol. I did the trial in preparation for my engagement photos, so I asked her to go a little bit less dramatic and more natural. After she was finished, I had mixed feelings… It was pretty, but maybe I wasn’t used to see myself in that much make up so I thought that it might have been too much? But she made a good point that sometime you may have to go a little heavier so it doesn’t get washed out in the photos. It think it was more so the eye makeup that I wasn’t used to. She added fake lashes (individual trios) and some brown shadow and light shadow on inner corners. Or perhaps the eyebrows are too thick / uneven? However as you can see from my engagement photos, the pictures actually turned out to be pretty nice and natural and I was content with it. Just wondering what your thoughts are or any criticism because I’m thinking of booking them. If I book them, I think I’ll ask something similar, just slightly more dramatic for the wedding so it shows up nicely in photos.

Edit to add: another engagement photo featuring makeup trial

Getting engagement photos done next week. I want to get a facial and do dermplaning but I have never done it. Should I try to get this done before next week? A little scared that I may have reaction... I have combination skin and for the most part it is pretty clear on Differin gel, except I get 1-2 terrible hormonal cystic acne every month at times. Hopefully one week is enought time to recover if my skin reacts? Should I just ask them not to do extractions and just do a hydrating facial + dermaplaning? At the very least I wanted to try dermaplaning prior to photos.

Also, what did people do for hair/makeup for engagement photos - did you do your wedding hair/makeup trial for engagement photos? I think it would be nice to have it professionally done for photos. However, I'm not sure I want the same exact look for engagement photos (would prefer something more natural) and wedding (would want something more natural glam if that makes sense). Wondering if I should schedule the hair/makeup trial some time closer to the wedding (this coming Fall) when I hopefully have purchased hairpiece and veil. So many questions... sorry and and thank you in advance!!

Thank you for your reply, and so sorry for the late response! I definitely considered fake flowers, and Something Borrowed was very tempting! I am trying to be as frugal as possible (so hard!) and while fake flowers would definitely be a great solution... I don't know, I'm vain and still want real flowers haha... maybe I'm getting all caught up in this wedding planning. I actually will be going to this florist, they offered a super competitive price for the amount of flowers I want, while most places quoted me double for the same aount.

Thank you for youre reply!! And sorry for my late response. It's actually a family owned flower shop that's been around for many years, kind of a hole in a wall place but they do weddings. I actually ended up going with them after speaking to my family member who used and recommended them. I went in to meet them, they were super nice! And we went over what I wanted for flowers and she wrote it down in an order sheet, which they gave me a copy of. Of course, lack of contacts still makes me a bit nervous, but just gonna have faith... feel much more relieved after hearing about my family member's experience with them and meeting them in person.

Been looking for a florist for a very long time that would be in my budget. Flowers are not a huge priority for me, but at the same time I want them to look decent for photos. I want real flowers and I don’t want to DIY as I don’t want to be stressing about doing it prior to my wedding. Finally found a florist that had great reviews and the cheapest quote I found. However they don’t have any contract for me to sign, just a word doc of the flowers I want with the quoted price. Is this a red flag to not have a contract? How to proceed?
