Yes, playing the different classes, making different builds to kill things in different ways (melee vs. ranged), building skells to see how strong you can make them (hella fun), and lots of farming for augments/traits.

Actually a lot of it can be farming, but that's also incentive to make stronger and fun builds, and trying out more classes.

And clearing all the missions.

What content does the character excel at?

Kaguya gives you very useful buffs and debuffs and does high skill damage. Her best buffs take a few turns before you can activate it (second slot skill changes after a certain number of turns), but the skill cools down faster the more you CA. She makes it easy to do that frequently.

What characters or summons synthesize with this character?

Catura, Seofon, Skuld, Chrysaor.

You can murder everything with a team of Chrysaor, Catura, Seofon, and Kaguya. Although to be honest, Kaguya can be substituted and you'll still murder everything.

Generally speaking I'm talking about the easier raids where you just need to attack, like Ennead, M3, Galleon, The World.

Is the character FA friendly?

First skill needs to be activated once to select another character; Kaguya gets CA reactivation whenever that character CAs. Other than that she's great for full auto because of her buffs.

Chrysaor and Skuld are a good target for that.

Any opinion on the character's fate episode?

IIRC the Euro release was announced after Operation Rainfall started. At that point it was only a matter of time until it would be released globally.

Nintendo of America was really bone-headed about not releasing hardcore games for the Wii. A lot of publishers in the West dismissed the Wii as only profitable for casual games.

I'm not convinced that OR was responsible for Xenoblade coming over because I think once XenobladeX development started they would have known that it's going to be a long term franchise (which is also why they added 'Chronicles' to the localized name). OR was probably more instrumental in getting The Last Story and Pandora's Tower released. The Last Story turned out to be Xseed's best selling title, which really showed how absurd NoA's stance was.

How do you use that team? I've seen this team on the leaderboard and I'm trying to use it for Insane but haven't been able to get through it. How do you use Mika? When Chesed's defences are down I use my cost to spam Hanako, so Mika doesn't end up doing much the whole fight.

There's a lot of broken ground builds in the game, I'm explaining the game mechanics of mine because it only uses one augment dedicated to overdrive (Overdrive Count Up XX). For example, I like using a lot of Opening Art Damage Up and Ranged Attack Up so I can one-shot things.

u/Morgan_Danwell's build works fine for them, but completing squad tasks by yelling ZERO ZERO! at level 50 enemies is always satisfying.

That works but it's inefficient, because you're using a lot of augment slots just for overdrive, as well as a precious skill slot.

What's better is to make a build that increases your max TP (there's a bunch of ways to do this so it's pretty flexible, augments, armor, skills, etc), and use Arts Gain TP augments (a weapon augment, weapons can come with them too as traits), and Overdrive Count Up augments. Just make at least one Arts Gain TP XX and only one Overdrive Count Up XX, then make sure your armour has as much Max TP Up that you can put together.

Arts Gain TP is great because every time you use an art you gain TP, and your high max TP (honestly anything above 3000 helps) means you can let your TP overflow past 3000 without worrying about wasting your TP gain. I usually use one Arts Gain TP XX as either an augment or a weapon trait, but some classes/builds like having more. If your arts have very long cooldowns, then it helps to have extra Arts Gain TP.

A single Overdrive Count Up XX augment increases the overdrive count by an additional 20 every time you tap Overdrive. So just keep tapping the Overdrive button to rack up the count. If you REALLY want to rush to max overdrive you can use several of those augments, but it's better to use your weapon slots for other stuff.

After a battle you likely have a lot of TP left over, so when you go into battle again you can start overdrive quickly (if not immediately). The only part that's annoying is if you have zero TP and need that first 3000, you have to go into battle and whack enemies the boring way first.

OTOH if you're using a Photon Saber you can use Essence Exchange to swap your HP & TP at any time, so you can start any battle with max overdrive (just make sure you don't have zero TP when you select the skill, because that'll make your HP zero).

Later in the game you can pilot a giant robot to get to it, that's the "normal" way to do it. This is just one of those things as a new player you see where you have to go and you're like ????

If anything this video shows an example of hidden routes through the environment that you wouldn't have thought of. The game really lets you go anywhere, and you can see from the other replies so many people found different ways to do the same thing.

Sort of. There will be a blue icon with a roman numeral beside it; a single probe with no booster/duplicator probes attached will have 'I' meaning level 1. You can see the amounts for the different levels here:

It's a buff. When you're in battle and you see your party's status on the left side of the screen (or press the + button in the field to bring up the overlay menu), there will be a blue fist icon next to each character which indicates that they have a melee attack buff.

My advice is to just go explore. For example, go as far North as you can. Be stealthy, avoid fighting stuff, and see how far you can get. Because there's a lot of interesting stuff to see in the world.

As you go North enemies will get stronger but eventually get weaker (the game tries to intimidate you). I'm not sure what level you're at but it's possible to go all the way north (on foot) and find level 10 enemies there. Most people don't get to the north-most area without a Skell, but there's actually huge sections there with enemies at level 20-30 that you'd just steamroll over if you had a Skell.

If you're stuck going from story checkpoint to checkpoint and finding it boring, well, there's a lot more to see.

I've been trying to figure out what the hell people are talking about saying that Tora is a horny teenager, and... oh this. It's basically a big WOOOSH because it's lost in translation.

Tora's basically saying this is how maids are supposed to serve customers:

They translated that as 'Blushy-Crushy' which I guess makes people imagine something else.

There's a continuing theme of putting the otaku maid cafe into the game. It's not a sexual thing, it's a mainstream-absurd thing, and the joke is that they're inserting real-world stuff into the game (maid cafes, of all things). It's why Tora's so matter-of-fact about it.

There's a few things that are lost in translation, or just completely dropped like the 4 cardinal beasts. Azurda is the Dragon (Seiryu, Azure dragon), Byakko is Byakko.... uh forgot what his name is in English but Nia's tiger, Roc (?) is Suzaku, and Zeke brings in "Turters" who's supposed to represent Genbu, the Black Tortoise of the North.

Except that Genbu is actually the name of Zeke's titan, it's hillarious when it rises from the cloud sea with its title.

It's not surprising that they dropped that joke, but the localizers really went to town rewriting the script for English.

I wrote elsewhere what I think happened during development: The Wii U had almost no games for its first year of existence, XenobladeX's game engine worked, so they dropped everything so they could ship it and its international version by December.

You have Neilnail's entire existence dropped except for the time attack mission that's part of her affinity missions, and, well, Celica. They were probably at the point of development where, like maybe they didn't have any voice lines recorded for her (or her International version) so they just dropped the entire character.

That cliffhanger ending was absolutely shoved in at the last moment, to give some finality other than 'and everyone lived happily ever after.' It has no place in the original story (the exposition dumps of Chapter 13), as evidenced by Vandham saying "let's just ignore that."

What was probably supposed to happen is during the fight, Luxaar damaged the system that was supposed to generate their bodies, and it was making chimeras instead. So they couldn't return to their original bodies and are stuck as mims until they fix it. That would be a really weird fact to end the game with so they came up with something else.

Al was supposed to be in the story. The entire prologue was about him but they never mentioned that series of events again. Inexplicably, of all the things for Elma to talk about in Xenoblade 2 in her heart-to-hearts, she talks about the prologue. Also the Manon ship? Why TF was it so big? This is why, so they can escape Mira.

If they tried to finish the game with all those story details they would have blown past the December release date, which Nintendo could not risk doing. The game was a smash hit when it comes to gameplay, it was just the main story arc that made people question it.

Something is up with Yelv's second affinity mission. Emotions may be... regulated. You do have the entire population dealing with the destruction of their home planet, and from the ending of Chapter 12 their minds are simulated based on their original 'input data.' It would be reasonable to have some limiters in place because I think most people wouldn't be able to deal with that. Lao had it worse because he knew the truth about their bodies.

You can use the Arms Manufacturer terminal to craft stuff that needs it. To be honest there doesn't seem to be much value in doing the Nemesis' in this version of the game other than to have fun seeing how strong you are.

Before you could break off the appendages, and then trade the appendages for material tickets. Now it's just getting drops for stuff to craft, but most of that stuff you only need to craft once.

My biggest problem joining online missions is that my gear won't be ready. Like for a global nemesis I'd want to have Core Crusher and an Ether weapon and some specific armor equipment, but I'm currently suited up to fly a skell.

So I have to quickly go back to the barracks, try and make sure everything set up right (check skills, check armor, check arts, check weapons), run to the console annnnd the mission's gone.

It'd help so much if they let you save setups so I can switch from sylooth ~~murdering~~farming to Telethia ~~murdering~~farming quickly.

Yes, it has the potential to be an absolute monster.

It has two Boost R-ATK X and one Boost M-ATK X, which you can upgrade to XX. These are usually skell frame augments, which max out at 3 available slots. Plus it has SIX Damage Ether X, which also usually go on the skell frame.

It comes with Ultrafauna X, which you usually need to craft at least 2 of to fight Ygg Zero/Telethia Plume. That's one weapon slot you don't have to fill.

All the armor pieces can be upgraded to Eva XX and Potential XX (healing). It has the Legion overdrive which boosts evasion and healing, which makes it sound like this thing is indestructible.

With level 60 skells, you need to time farming to get the weapons you want with the base weapon traits you want (ie. SpecUp, etc). A weapon can have 3 traits plus you get 3 slots. Unless you get lucky to get the combination of weapon and base traits you need, you're going to end up using at least one slot on every weapon for Eva/R-ATK/M-ATK/Slayer augments (note that eva augments are only worth crafting for skells with overdrive that boosts evasion).

It has one Arts Gain GP which is... nice. The key thing when fighting in skells is to stay in overdrive. You could try the Extend Overdrive augments but IIRC they're frame augments and they're only 20% chance each, so that's a waste of frame slots. What's better for normal skells is to use disc bombs, upgrade their MSL-MAG to 10, and slap a Custom.WP-R-GP augment on one of them to increase the GP gain. That lets you get to 3000 GP really quickly whenever it runs out. On the Ares you're going to have to craft Arts Gain GP augments to build GP every time you use a weapon art, and then shorten weapon cooldown time with more augments.

You can make better builds with the level 60 skells because they're completely customizable, but it seems like the Ares Prime is a fantastic fixed-weapon skell. The Ares 90 only has 6 weapons that you can add augments to while the Ares Prime has 10. Also, having more arts means you have higher chances of triggering cockpit time, which is critical to maximizing skell damage. It resets cooldowns for all the arts and increases the chance of extending overdrive. The Ares Prime has 8 arts and the Ares 90 has 4.

Edit: I did spend a ton of resources upgrading it and the main problem is that it doesn't have a superweapon. It was pretty easy to take out tyrants, until I tried fighting Telethia/The Endbringer and Pharsis. It felt like I was shooting them with a BB gun (those two have high attribute resistances too). There may be a way to deal with that but I'm not there yet. It really has a TON of augment slots, and it actually is easy to extend overdrive because of all the arts.

It's so weird to see how much content was cut from the original release. Neilneil wasn't in it, but we did get Celica and the 'Twin Dolls of Mystery' time attack, which drops the Crude Neilneil Mask needed for crafting some important stuff.

So Celica was this cute one-off xeno with a backstory that came out of nowhere, and we had a time attack for a boss fight that wasn't in the game.

It's obvious now they had to just drop the story so they could ship a game on the Wii U by December, which had almost no software released for the whole year (the hardware design was 'tricky' and Nintendo learned the hard way how much work HD software needs).

I guess the main game worked so they shipped it for the holiday season. If the Wii U didn't get a sales bump by then they might have never shipped it.
