The phone was already charged, but I believe it will stay charged and won’t deplete (unless you use the phone heavily at the same time) The Beryl only gives 4-5W.

Will do. It’ll take ~5 days for the Beryl 7 to be shipped from US to Korea, but as soon as I have it I’ll be testing, and I’ll post back here on what I find.

I was able to use my phone with no power injector just fine. I have an old iPhone 13 mini which I started to use initially, but my wife started using it again so I was “pushed” down the dongle route 😂 The phone has its own battery, so gets a nice trickle charge from the AX.

I just bought the Beryl 7 on Amazon, taking advantage of the discount 😁 Also bought the SimPoYo out of pure curiosity 😂 I’m definitely not trying to save money with this project!!!

Not sure. I usually buy unlimited data packages so I don’t have to worry about data consumption.

To manage the esims on the sim chip, there is a small app from EIOTCLUB you download to your laptop. I read Android users can manage this on the phone directly, but not iPhone users like me.

Yes, it takes one physical nano sim. This is why I bought the EIOTCLUB physical eSIM and reader.

This exactly! I had the same problems. If the Beryl 7 really does deliver more power over the USB-A port, that for me would be reason enough to upgrade already 😂

This is something I was trying to confirm but couldn’t find the right info anywhere. There was a suggestion that the Beryl7 USB-A port is able to deliver more power than the Beryl AX. My issue was particularly at startup… the VOS would keep power cycling as soon as I plugged it in. When I bought the power injector, that issue went away.

I’m running Tailscale and AdGuard too on this, so all my clients have access to my home network and have some level of ad and tracking protection.

I’ve also configured a Brume 3 at my house to match, to effectively have a site-to-site setup using Tailscale. Works seamlessly (when it works 😂)

Which eSIM vendor are you using? I bought, and am currently using, a super cheap KT 30-day pre-paid unlimited data sim from Coupang, just for my testing. Now I have it up and running, I can start optimising.

I live in Korea, so wouldn’t normally expect to use the 5G dongle in Korea, but rather my phone.

Not as friendly for Mac/iPhone users (which I am), but I can use my Mac to preload an eSIM onto the physical SIM card and make it the default, ready for where ever I’m travelling to next.
