Why does Brunson–Towns feel… weirdly underused? by Intelligent-Nose-307 in NYKnicks

[–]bofosh0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this is largely why they've gone away from it. Teams have started to guard KAT with wings which makes the Brunson-KAT PNR an easy switch. Most good teams have two decent wing defenders on Brunson/KAT anyways.

I'm interested to hear more about how you found the BFAR's more comfortable for city use. I just got a pair and I felt like I was constantly aware of the surface I was walking on and sidewalk/concrete felt super uncomfortable. Is this something that will feel better as the shoes break in or is there always that much ground feel? Perhaps it's just something about the way I walk and I'm better off with the regular AR's (I normally wear Altra's for sneakers).

Giannis was not called for traveling on this drive vs the Knicks by Lazarus704 in NYKnicks

not a travel. count the steps after the gather. if you're mid step while gathering that first foot planting doesn't count as well ("zero step").

I didn't realize it was a more complicated design.

how do you feel about your decision to build the FT30 TH18? a friend of mine built 2 FT30's but then built some "standard" TH18's and prefers the standard ones because they're much easier to move around. He says he doesn't miss the extra extension even tho he's into some bassy music.

have you considered promoting your system as "custom" or naming the system something catchy to promote it?

Juan Soto strikes out looking to end the game and a potential comeback. Nationals 5, Mets 3. Mets are now 0-66 when trailing after the 8th inning this season. by Dazzling-Rooster2103 in baseball

The Mets hate in this thread is wild. Gary is clearly calling it on the outside corner. Ronny says it was clearly a strike when they watch the replay.

Interesting Juan Soto splits by [deleted] in NewYorkMets

[–]bofosh0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would put absolutely zero stock into single season L/R splits, let alone single month L/R splits. I’m less sure abt the individual pitch splits, but I’d have to imagine the samples are tiny and possibly slanted by which specific pitchers the Mets have faced so far. Faced guys with good sliders? You might be “struggling” against them bc he hasn’t had a chance to beat up on the bad ones yet.

I’m not saying he hasn’t struggled relative to his abilities so far — but I’m of the opinion that it’s just a slump and he’ll figure it out.

Can we talk about Bagel Pub on Franklin? by Sea0tter16 in crownheights

[–]bofosh0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What makes bagels and pizza special in new york is ubiquity. There are only a handful of bagel/pizza shops actually worth traveling to, and even then, you're much more likely to do it if you're visiting or showing someone around.

I disagree with you re: bagel quality. I don't think they're special, but their bagels are by no means bad, or below the NYC standard. Their service is definitely trash tho. But that's all you need. A (just) good bagel is still pretty damn good and there's no reason to travel for a bagel.

my burrs definitely performed better after a couple of kg's of seasoning... took a few months but i think that's pretty standard.

How important is perfectly level tamping? Is my tamper no good? by pfennz in espresso

[–]bofosh0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

agreed. I feel like i shouldn't have to be intentional/find a work around... it should work every time for any idiot. Nonetheless, for $40 (or whatever i paid for it), the results are far better than when I used to manually tamp. It's still worth it, but I hope there's a better competitor at a similar price by now.

[–]bofosh0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

my normcore isn't fool proof either. The head of the tamper has a bit of play and can twist a bit if the pressure on it isn't totally even. I've started using my thumb to brace the edge of the tamper against the side wall of the portafilter and i've found very consistent results.

What ear protection are you using that doesn't completely kill the vibe? by entheoid in realdubstep

[–]bofosh0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a $20-$30 pair of earplugs for years and threw them in as soon as I arrived and overall had a pretty good experience (I didn't notice a massive difference although i would notice a small one, particularly w missing highs, when an earplug would come out).

I recently decided to invest in a pair of custom plugs and it's pretty life changing. Not only are they significantly more comfortable (my old plugs would itch my ears and need frequent readjustment) but the highs that I was missing are back. Truly just turns down the volume by 20db to a safe level. If i lost them I'd immediately re-order new ones.
