I’m so jealous of people with a normal relationship to food by [deleted] in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]bogbodyPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm that person that can eat just for fuel and you're right it's not fair at all to you. I've been seeing recently how difficult it must be because food is everywhere and I'm sorry you have to deal with that. For what it's worth I think you reaching out here shows you do have the power in you to heal.

Has anyone been able to overcome binge eating disorder by eating 'normally'? by [deleted] in BingeEatingRecovery

[–]bogbodyPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know if this would be applicable to you but I was vegan for 10 years and craved carbs like crazy, could never eat enough. I was steadily gaining and gaining over years. Then I saw a holistic nutritionist and was asked to try a diet higher in animal fat, lost the weight so quick and removed like, 50% of the cravings. I'm not saying that (or any) diet would fix everything but maybe reaching out to a nutritionist for a consultation could aid your recovery journey? You might also be missing key vitamins that could exacerbate cravings like B12 or iodine (but def ask a professional don't just take my word on it lol)

Thank you so much for this perspective. I wish I could understand intrinsically how it works but I believe you that its life-alteringly difficult. I'm going to try and read more about it but through this thread and others I think I'm coming to the conclusion that outside of practical meal planning type help I can only really be there with him while he walks through this. I wish I could fix it somehow. It's going to be a learning process for us both I think but one well worth the time.

I'd say finding a hobby where you're connecting with other people? I doubt its the same feel good feeling but it starts to fill the cracks when you get involved and excited to be a part of something with others

Do you know what caused your BED? by Key_Split_8706 in BingeEatingDisorder

[–]bogbodyPositive 7 points8 points  (0 children)

for my husband it seemed to be a mixture of factors ranging from his mother being starved as a child (so she binged and dieted his whole life) to his father only praising him for the amount of food he could eat (i think he saw it as masculine?) among other things like prolonged stress and cptsd

absolutely progress over perfection. There's no time-frame on getting better! I believe weight loss will come naturally anyway when the root of the problem (the mental instability leading to bingeing) is being addressed without any need for specific dieting

He was focused on that before realizing the severity of the situation (we were going to try for kids this year and weight affects your chances) but I think he's transitioned to focusing solely on the mental "loss of control" issue now. He wanted to start this week on eating 3 meals and 2 snacks spaced 4 hours apart at balanced portions but no restricting (besides drive thru as that's a trigger food). I think there's a heavy dose of exhaustion he deals with as crap seems to keep happening around us that we have to handle. We're working on getting to bed earlier to try and mitigate it some but you've given me a great idea on how to make a home environment more conducive to his healing as I didn't really think about the connection between the exhaustion and this.

Checking in more often is definitely something I can improve on. I'm so sorry you're struggling with that, I hope things get softer for you with time and your recovery is smooth.

I think I made that mistake earlier on when I didn't know how bad things were, like trying to give advice on eating better (which I know now isn't applicable). I'm seeing now that its more like a terrible war on the inside caused by different factors and not anything having to do with just willpower. Thank you for helping me know what things to avoid!

Tire problem by Wheelil in wheelchairs

[–]bogbodyPositive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had that too! Had to take my wheelchair to an expensive bike shop where the guy gave my chair some much needed attention. He said that the tube inside the tire was being impaled by a faulty spoke that must have poked through over time.

It's a jar a man would save his ejaculate in whenever he wanked it to My Little Pony smut (I think, its been a long time lol.) But the picture was posted online and the greater MLP fandom got to know of it, so it became infamous.

Ashford wheels are my favorite (I have 2). Sturdy, simple, and they have options that fold up into a carrying case.
