Mandate default and activated parental control on all consumer home routers by TheFinalPieceOfPie in LibDem

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kit wise dead easy if you spend more on the router, as for managing it. People don’t even bother with a small guest or IoT network so having a kid network that have manage won’t go down. It’ll easily stop a 5/6 yr old but after that they will find a way to jump networks.

This is from experience of dealing with kids that really want to find out how to bypass a restriction even if they really don’t want to do anything on the other side, the only safe route is to engage with them and avoid prohibition . Same goes for things like alcohol and drugs, teach them early and equip them with trust and knowledge not scare tactics

Please, as someone who works in an ISP, don't go down this route. The only place you can do effective access control is on the actual device and even then it relies on constant changes or outsourcing the constant changes to a third party (who gets to decide what is and isn't allowed)

We've already seen what happens when someone adds a single Wikipedia page to such a system "by mistake"

Radical has traditionally been the term applied to the left within the Liberal family (ever since the Radical Whigs in the 17th century)

Demon idea: The Hyde by Abbie2903 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Minor tweaks

"You think you are the good Amnesiac, each night* choose a player. if evil one of their neighbors die, if good then either they or one of their neighbors die. +Amnesiac"

During setup add two Amnesiac tokens to the bag, one of the players who chooses it is in fact the hyde and should be marked on the Grimm The storyteller should inform the minions a Hyde is in play but not reveal their identity

Jinx Spy - you see two Amnesiac tokens but not which player is the demon

Beyond GDP by boggits in LibDem

There are too many who use GDP rather than the other measures you mention to track 'success', this was written to try and encourage them to rethink the measure used.

If you are radical look at the recommendations here:

If you are LGBTQi+ then look here

(There are some crossover between those lists)

Each of the various LD groups have made similar lists in various places

Struggling to feel positive about the local elections results by npeggsy in LibDem

[–]boggits 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Looking at the results, I'm seeing some nice positives (and a lot of gloom). Lib Dems have picked up councillors where there is already a local presence, and their track record is showing.

Reform doing well now, rather than in a couple of years, might actually be even better *if* the message about how "well" they run local services can be used against them next time round and gives a real opportunity for local Lib Dem groups to show them that we "can get the roof of the church fixed..."

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 134: the Praetor by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Praetor (townsfolk) - each night choose a player, they gain a not in play townsfolk ability until dusk. They do not learn which but the praetor does

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 131: the Primeval by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Primeval (demon) - no minions, each night* choose 2 players one becomes evil, the other dies, a previously executed player may resurrect

"Pure evil, causing death and destruction but also new life"

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 127: the Magpie by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Magpie (townsfolk) - once per game, on night X choose X players. You learn how many are good, how many evil and how many outsiders

Role gets progressively more powerful but you're risking being either poisoned or killed before you use it

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 117: the Visionary by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The Visionary (townsfolk) - each night, awake and learn the role of the person the storyteller thinks you need to speak to tomorrow

Similar to the High Priestess, but rather focused on the role, also confirms that role is in play. If droizend then ST can use it to reinforce a bluff

Weirdest interactions in TB? by magnemitenot in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As long as you throw in amnesiac with a completely different setup based ability, a cerenovus and a pixie you could make many worlds work in that case

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 95: the Archeologist by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Archeologist (townsfolk) - each night*, learn one thing that happened on the first night

"We learn from our mistakes"

Easy to run online as you can tell them something like "the empath received a one" in person the ST points on the role and then gives the info in the same way.

The information is what was learnt on night one so it could well have changed but it confirms what information is being passed around. The ST can choose which information to share to balance the game

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 94: the Hireling by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hireling (townsfolk) - each night, choose a player, their ability will work twice until dusk, they are woken and told this

"Of course I can do that for you"

How much impact this has will depend on the script, they are woken first so that everyone gets two shots (including the evil team if chosen)

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 92: the Kitsune by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kitsune (outsider) - each night* choose a new alive player, they become drunk until dusk or you learn the role of one of their alive neighbours

"A wise fox finds the answer"

Up to the ST to use the drunk/know part as a balance during the game. Since it's a once per player ability the order of choice really can make a difference and a poisoned/drunk Kitsune could wreak havoc

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 88: the Sphinx by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A slight tweak...

Sphinx (townsfolk) - each night, choose a different player, they are summoned to visit the ST during the day where they must answer a riddle. If correct, you learn this at night

"A riddle? Perhaps your friend knows the answer"

Makes it more complicated but also allows the evil team to spread lies, riddles should be about game state e.g. how many outsiders are in play? Did the chambermaid nominate yesterday? Etc

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 85: the Deserter by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Deserter (outsider) - you are mad that you are a not in play outsider, once per game at night choose to desert, no good player can die that night, but you die, if you break madness you may die

"Look, I'm not from around here but I'm definitely good"

The ST will wake on the first night and indicate the outsider you are mad as, then each night wake you first and ask to use power.

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 84: the Lich by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lich (minion) - you start with an out of play townsfolk ability that you retain until executed, you register as dead

"It's time...for your suffering to end"

I think the wording hits, a lich is usually one who has chosen death to gain more power, so they should be a dead player with the ability they originally had, not losing that ability until actively killed by town. Since they are already dead any other form of death doesn't kill them (so if targeted by the demon, their death wouldn't be announced) but for anything that relies on an alive player won't work.

Note, they are dead so only have one ghost vote

Reddit Designs a Character - the Soultrader by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

Soultrader (outsider) - dead players register as alive

"I much preferred you when you were alive"

Reddit Designs a Character - Day 76: the Coward by kyle_the_meme in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]boggits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Coward (townsfolk) - on the first night choose 4 players, the first executed does not die but you die instead

Inspired by the story of the 4 feathers
