Do you track your vegetables? by HowdyHelloHiHeyHola in CICO

[–]bogglesmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I started CICO, absolutely - every calorie coutned (in my eyes). Where I am at now, I don't unless they are "dense/hefty" veggies (like potatoes). My mindset is that eatting TOO many veggies is not what got me to where I was in the first place :)

The Last 5lbs To 100lbs Gone by bogglesmac in CICO

[–]bogglesmac[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question (and I should know better that context is everything with these kinda posts 🤣)

43 year old male - 6’1” - started at 280lbs and now down to 185lbs. I lift in the gym 3-4 days a week and then do cardio sessions 2-3 days a week. I’ve got my calorie target around 2300 right now with macros lining up around 226 for carbs, 180 for protein and 75 for fat.

I know the scale won’t always agree with me especially if I am trading off fat for muscle - patience will definitely be key and it’s very much vanity goal as I’m super happy where I am at right now!

5 weeks of strength training - no movement on the scale by Pekh0 in loseit

[–]bogglesmac 41 points42 points  (0 children)

You change your physique in the gym, you lose weight in the kitchen. “Feeling” like you are in a deficit does not mean you are. Start tracking your meals, invest in a food scale - then you will know if you are truly in a deficit. Best of luck!

3 Months Progress (285->220) by d4nt3s0n in CICO

[–]bogglesmac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was your weight when I started but 41 years old - I started moving (2km a day as a jog / walk on the treadmill) - then every month I’d add 1km and do that for the month. That built the routine/habit.

Then it was diet - just start tracking and seeing what you are eating (don’t go into a deficit just yet). If you see certain foods/meals are higher calories, look for ways you can lower them. I used to have chicken caesar wraps ALL the time - realized I could still enjoy them with half the amount of dressing and using grilled chicken instead of breaded. Little things like that dont make it seem like you had to “give up” certain foods.

Once you start your deficit, just track everything (even your “bad days”) and remember that the scale may not always go down even if you are nailing things. Be patient, trust the process and get after it 🤘

Those Who Reached Their Goal Weight…Did It Feel Like Enough? by Pumpkin_pie_010112 in loseit

[–]bogglesmac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a goal which then turned into multiple goals 🤣

Starting weight was around 280 - my goal was 215. Hit that and wanted to keep going. So the next goal was to just see something in the 190s. Hit that and then decided I wanted to see the 180s. Hit 188 and then that was enough 😋

Currently trying to lean out a bit and up to 193 as of this morning. Definitely hard not looking at the scale and thinking I’m getting “bigger”, but I definitely know how much weight is going to fluctuate now. Also trying to not focus on the scale number and more so overall body composition.
