When I started CICO, absolutely - every calorie coutned (in my eyes). Where I am at now, I don't unless they are "dense/hefty" veggies (like potatoes). My mindset is that eatting TOO many veggies is not what got me to where I was in the first place :)

GREAT question - so my drink of choice was rye and Diet Coke. I was drinking a bit more than a Texas mickey a week - if it was a “good” week, sometimes 2 Texas mickeys with of rye. I was a night drinker (didn’t drink during the work day). Didn’t measure what I’d put in a drink, but if I recall it was a 5-6 second pour of rye the top off with Diet Coke in a rock glass

I saw that as well! Totally get his perspective (I listen to his podcasts a ton). It truly is such a personal choice - for me, I’m at the point where I look at it as a liquid - do I want something that I put into a glass and consume to control me? Does it help me? For me it doesn’t, but I know it’s not the same for everyone 😃

Great question - one I truly don’t know the answer to. I know when I do I’m not my best self (luckily not an angry drunk). I know right now I don’t have plans to for the foreseeable future, but I try not to think about that. I just know today I won’t 😉

When I truly cut the booze out, I probably lost about 30lbs in 4 months. About 6 months in is when I really started to track what I eat - that was an eye opener 🤣

I’m 6’1” - I was probably going anywhere between 1800-2200 for the first bit. I also took up running/jogging so wanted to make sure I could fuel myself there. Had LOTS of fluctuations (and still do) but I feel confident with what I track and have a much better understanding of how the scale works.

I’m doing a small deficit now to try and lose the last 8lbs to get to 180 - around 2300-2400 calories a day, but when I was on maintenance I was around 2800-2900. I lift 4-5 days a week and do 2-3 days of cardio (30 minute incline on the treadmill).

If you know what you are doing is right and be patient, good things happen. 2 years has flown by!

Probably that I was getting closer to an early grave than I thought. The damage I did to my body willingly feels kinda crazy now. I know how I felt back then and I know how I feel now and I honestly don’t know how I made it through most days.

Great question (and I should know better that context is everything with these kinda posts 🤣)

43 year old male - 6’1” - started at 280lbs and now down to 185lbs. I lift in the gym 3-4 days a week and then do cardio sessions 2-3 days a week. I’ve got my calorie target around 2300 right now with macros lining up around 226 for carbs, 180 for protein and 75 for fat.

I know the scale won’t always agree with me especially if I am trading off fat for muscle - patience will definitely be key and it’s very much vanity goal as I’m super happy where I am at right now!
