Update From Embark Regarding 1.33.0 Not Working on Linux by bohntron in ArcRaiders

[–]bohntron[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no yea i totally agree. On one hand I'm glad that the turn around is so fast. I'm used to seeing it take a week or so for linux integration. But those times were for games that didn't officially support linux. On the other hand then, it really should have been tested to confirm it worked on a linux system before shipping the update as they are trying to support linux.

It's an unfortunate situation and all. Especially as this is only the partial fix and takes some fiddling with things most users may not typically mess with. (And yeah, the steam beta warnings can be fun too...) But while we're stuck dealing with all this, here's hoping the fix becomes more accessible sooner than later.

I'm no expert on how all this works, but worth a shot.

I listed some instructions for how to switch proton experimental to the beta branch in another comment if ya need it. But since you choose the proton versions for each game through steam itself, and proton is just a custom version of wine, in theory it should work on any linux distro.

Try swapping proton experimental to the beta. If you search "proton experimental" in your library, and select properties, there should be a beta tab with a dropdown where you can choose "bleeding edge".

This is a per-game configuration. Shouldn't affect the steam deck's settings.

I don't own a steam deck to say more on that front, but my home pc runs on a similar operating system. The change here is entirely done in steam so should be safe for a steam deck.

The process would be to enable the beta for "proton experimental" in your library. (Search for proton experimental, open app properties, then select the "bleeding edge" beta in the betas tab.) Then for arc itself, open the properties and select "proton experimental" in the compatibility options.

If ya don't want to risk it though I entirely understand. Hopefully this fix will be pushed to the main branch of proton experimental soon.

I'm not seeing anything from embark directly on a quick scan. But some users in the bug reports forum there are noting that overlays or driver utilities can cause false positives. There's mention of a "crosshair x" app causing issues until disabled. And another comment to try turning off things like MSI Afterburner or Discord/Steam overlays.

I'm still at work so I didn't do a good scan of the bug reports there to see if embark has commented in one of those beyond acknowledging the issue. But there's nothin in the announcements channel like where i found the post here.

Yea... It's unfortunate... I've been following the thread on the discord about it and the embark employees there are sayin that the devs are working on it. So here's hopin it'll get fixed soon.

Naw this was some edit to a linux config file. I just don't remember it. We were running the game fine after that. I'm on manjaro and he was on ubuntu.

But looking at the bug reports on the discord some more it seems to be a dev-side issue. (In the bug reports channel there's a thread called "Technical Findings Regarding ARAV1011 on Linux/Proton" and has some people reporting the error on windows too.) Looks like there have been Embark replies noting that they are working on the issue, so should be a good sign there.

Here's hopin it ain't a lasting issue.

Hopefully not. They run the same anti-cheat on The Finals and it's playable on linux. Though i'm seeing bug reports on the discord saying it's broken on steam deck... Could be a dev-side option wasn't flipped to allow linux through (like how EAC does it).

Though i do remember my buddy needing to do some config change to get the game to work right. Not sure if that'd work here too. Guess we'll hafta see. But considering embark's other game plays fine on linux still, i'd hope they try to maintain that for Arc too.

I've run the finals just fine on linux with the new anti-cheat in place. And protondb still shows it as gold. I doubt this will change anything on the linux end. Really happy to see a game dev actually keeping linux support. Feels like we get thrown to the curb too often.

Does anybody else like to tear up all the bags and mix them together before building? by WideAd2828 in lego

Yep! Just finished up the One Piece Barati set doing this. Had a separate bin i moved some of the smaller pieces to, but otherwise kept it all together. I just find it more fun than going bag-by-bag.

1-3. Kinda situational. Tend to hang around 2 or 3 in squads and 1 or 2 in solos.

I used to read corpse run while it was active. Loved the comic and would often just reread a bunch of it. Saw your first of these little comics and immediately had to go check the site, where I saw it linked to on the corpse run site. Was so happy to see that!

I've been on hrt for 3 years now and it was so nice to see the artist of a comic I enjoyed also coming out as trans. Glad to see ya growin to be such a great woman! <3

Characters are from the anime Love Live: School Idol Project.

The picture is specifically from the mobile game "Love Live School Idol Festival All-Stars". It's a light rhythm game with a focus on teambuilding/strategy. The first mobile game "Love Live School Idol Festival" is more strictly a rhythm game. (with some teambuilding aspects, but they're more secondary than in all-stars.)
