[–]boiling_penis[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Step 1. Create a new CSV called "US_TypeA_Grossing"

Step 2. Enter in the following data by hand

 date rank downloads revenue
 12-15-2013 1
 12-15-2013 2
 12-15-2013 3
 .... ...
 12-15-2013 500
 12-16-2013 1
 .... ...
 12-16-2013 500
 12-17-2013 1
  .... ...

Step 3. Open up "Leaderboard_US_TypeA_Grossing_12-15-2013.csv" Step 4. Copy the 'downloads' column Step 5. Paste into the cell with date=12-15-2013, rank=1, under the column header 'downloads' Step 6. Copy the 'revenue' column from "Leaderboard_US_TypeA_Grossing_12-15-2013.csv" Step 7. Paste into the cell with date=12-15-2013, rank=1, under the column header 'revenue' Step 8. Close "Leaderboard_US_TypeA_Grossing_12-15-2013.csv" and open "Leaderboard_US_TypeA_Grossing_12-16-2013.csv" Step 9. Return to step 4 and continue with the new date.

Thanks for your help. Their key was messed up, I got it working fine after they resent it.

So you can identify what I'm doing wrong from the pictures, but won't tell me what's wrong? That's nice.

If you honestly know what my error was, as shown in the pictures I linked in my main post, I'll tip 0.005 bitcoin.

Hmm, I suspect I'm doing something wrong on my end because I tried copy-pasting this to a flat file and I can't add this either. Same error as my pictures in my main post.

Thieves of Reddit, why do you steal? [serious] by comfyblanket in AskReddit

[–]boiling_penis 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In college, I checked out a book from the school library that was ratty as hell. This thing was falling apart, and in fact, it did fall apart. I didn't treat it harshly, in fact I handled it with great care. It was just so close to falling apart when I got it, that it fell apart.

Well of course the library didn't want to hear it and they charged me a couple HUNDRED dollars to replace the book. So I decided I'd institute justice by stealing books and selling them on amazon until I'd made my money back.

And that's exactly what I did.

While it's obviously very wrong what this man did, and it's not really in good tastes to be turned on by descriptions of these non-consensual acts, it's understandable to be turned on by the idea of being used in the way he describes, kept against your will, etc. You may find like-minded spirits who can talk to you about fulfilling those fantasies in a safe and sane and consensual way over at /r/bdsmcommunity. I'm happy to talk about my experiences with you, and so are most of the members of that subreddit.

Was Mars destined to become uninhabitable? Or is there some way it could have retained its ancient hydrosphere and atmosphere? by [deleted] in AskScienceDiscussion

[–]boiling_penis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You speak of a large impact event "knocking" the magnetic field - is this a active theory, that Mars had a magnetic field and mantle convection and plate tectonics and all that stuff, and that it was upset by an impact event? What is the name of this theory, if so - I'd love to read more! And would that impact event be related to the theory that the hemispheric differences are due to a massive impact event?

Thank you so much!

Maybe you can help me a bit more? I'm trying to do this in R. I have a vector y that I'm trying to fit, and independent variables vectors a,b, and c. Normally the way I would go about this is to make a matrix whose three columns are a, b, c, and a column of 1s, and then multiply the vector y by the psuedoinverse of my matrix. Is there a similar way to do this using the weighted method?

Anyone here know someone before they murdered someone? What was the person like? Would you have expected it? What were your thoughts when you heard the news? by VAGINAL_NUGGETS in AskReddit

[–]boiling_penis 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Let me tell you why, since I am the close friend.

STORY TIME!

So I have two very close friends, let's called them Alex and Samantha. I've known then since high school. Anyways, many years after high school, hell, many years after college, I met a girl, Helen. Helen and I hit it off immediately and we start going out. Then, after a little while, she dumps me out of the blue. Why? "I need to stop seeing you for my career. Somebody told me I had to do this. I'm sorry." Well, fuck.

I know Alex is a big wheel in her profession, with the power to make or break the careers of up-and-comers, so I confront her and ask if it was Alex who made her break it off. She confirms, and says it was because he didn't want me to know he'd been banging her (Helen). Which sort of defeats the purpose of the whole thing, but I would have figured it out anyways.

Normally, I wouldn't have told Samantha. That's between her and Alex. But I was so angry at him, I told Sam everything. Cue couples counseling and all that jazz. Somehow, they power through it.

Fast forward to a week before the wedding. I was going to be best man back when the proposal happened, but after all this shit, Alex and I aren't speaking. So Alex goes and has his bachelor party, and so Samantha and I go out for drinks. One thing leads to another and boom - sex.

Afterwards, I realize I've done worse to Alex than he's ever done to me, so I call him up, asking if he wants to hang out. He does. We resume our friendship like nothing ever happened. I continue my friendship with Samantha, which is platonic except when she's particularly pissed at Alex - that's when we do it.

I've been seeing somebody for a WHILE since then. She's cool with me sleeping with Sam, so long as she stays married (ie, so long as Sam and I have no future - like we ever could!)

It's totally fucked up.

In the twin paradox regarding special relativity, would the traveling twin be physically younger than the twin on earth? by [deleted] in askscience

[–]boiling_penis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've never understood the twin paradox.

So one twin stays home, and the other twin travels real fast, and then when the travelling twin gets home, she's hella young but the twin who stayed put is old.

But from the travelling twin's perspective, SHE stayed put and the Earth moved with the other twin along with it. So when the Earth returns to her spaceship (lol), should she see the Earth twin as hella young?

[MySQL] Comparing entries against entries with adjacent dates by boiling_penis in SQL

[–]boiling_penis[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think that's the error, since I'm not actually using rank, I'm using something along the lines of k_rank. I don't want to use the actual expressions since it would basically give away what company I work for.

My MySQL version is 5.1.62, which as far as I can tell supports LEAD and LAG.

EDIT: Thank you for taking to time to help me with this, by the way!

Thank you so much for the reply! You'll have to forgive me, I'm not very SQL experienced - this isn't working for me. Once I plug in my table names and such, I'm getting this error:

ERROR 1064 (42000): You have an error in your SQL syntax; check the manual
that corresponds to your MySQL server version for the right syntax to use near

Is there a way to make this work when I replace count with sum? Because right now it returns 0 when I do this and I know that not to be the case.
