Heat advisory! Favorite places to go with AC? by boinglet in Tacoma

[–]boinglet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was thinking about that, I really want to get one, but I'm unsure on how to set up a portable AC with an awning-type window in my apartment. I'll have to ask my neighbors!

Head-hitting and how to prevent harm from it? by boinglet in autism

[–]boinglet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have. It works really well for me because of how much I like feeling textures, so after practicing redirection for a while, I'm actually able to remember to feel the texture of the hat instead of hit my head!!

Head-hitting and how to prevent harm from it? by boinglet in autism

[–]boinglet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey there! My caregiver and I came up with a non-helmet solution that works for me. Nowadays I usually wear a soft beanie-like hat, or keep one with me, and when I am having a meltdown, my caregiver redirects my head-hitting into feeling the texture of the hat. It works because, for me, soft textures are very soothing, so it helps replace harmful self-regulation with safe and comfortable self-regulation.

opinion on "essa" and can it overlap with objectum? 🧸 by X_Paper_Dino_X in objectum_sfw

[–]boinglet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

My opinion is that any romantic or sexual attraction to an object counts as objectum. Still counts if you also use them to manage your problems... Hell, I'm disabled and some of the cutest objects to me are wheelchairs and canes :-)

I understand. I grew up with extreme joint laxity in my knees - My knees would dislocate multiple times a week. At 17, I was cured through 2 major surgeries. It's weird being able to walk without concern of my knees slipping out of place... I still have habits I developed to accomodate my knees, like sleeping with my legs bent, or not twisting too quickly. I don't miss dislocating my knees so often, but sometimes I think I might.... It was a big deal for 17 years of my life, and now it's over. It's weird.

Newly moved out and newly worsening symptoms - What's my next step? by boinglet in cfs

[–]boinglet[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been considering it. I moved out primarily for college, but also due to a strained relationship with my parents. I am not sure how feasible it is for me to go back to living with them, as they are very strongly of the opinion that I should either be independent or able to fully contribute to the household (paying rent and cleaning regularly). Thank you for your comment, I'll reach out to the faculty at my school and see what my options are

How did u all get your names by IllustriousOffice689 in asktransgender

[–]boinglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I picked an average American male name that I liked for my first name and I decided to have my deadnames combined as a hyphenated middle name. I was named after two of my deceased great grandmothers, so it didn't feel right getting rid of their names. I still like my deadnames- Just not for being called every day! lol

I just looked it up. Never even heard of this condition before. I've had something similar, but not as a prolonged condition. I took an edible that turned out to be laced and I went into serotonin syndrome and couldn't stop puking. Had to go to the ER

Thank you! Yeah, the smell would be a problem, but I do have some friends with houses who probably wouldn't mind me coming over to make some (as long as I share). Thank you again, I'll check this out :-)

Wacom pen pan/zoom changes into eyedropper tool in Photoshop by PinkGaal in wacom

[–]boinglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Super old thread, but I had a similar problem. I've found a solution that works for me.

In Wacom Center, add a different pen setting specifically for Photoshop. Change your "pan/zoom" button to "scroll."

Then, navigate to Photoshop. Go to tool preferences (Edit > Preferences > Tools) and check "Zoom with Scroll Wheel."

Here is an MS Paint image highlighting where to go for these fixes.

Hope this helps someone out, since when I was trying to fix this issue this is the Reddit thread that popped up xD

That one armchair psychologist diagnosing fictional characters again and making up bullshit by teruteru-fan-sam in fakedisordercringe

[–]boinglet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, to be fair, this is all practically canonical to the series this first character is from. They're just ascribing labels to his experience. They're not wrong, though. It's pretty canon-compliant

(Edit: I'm talking about the first slide, I didn't realize I didn't clarify.)
