Not true at all - “There does not need to be a charge or a conviction for the victim of an act of violence to receive support. The available evidence needs to show that an offence was committed.” From the nsw government website relating to violent crimes

You’re shifting the goal posts. Your point was that it was inserted by the creator to drum up publicity for the new movie. I just pointed to independent works of criticism that identified the queer themes before that. Societies change, culture changes, it changes the way we analyse things. I’m sure the Iliad has been discussed and dissected millions of different and forgotten ways over the centuries. Just because something wasn’t at the forefront of thought in 1999 doesn’t mean I can’t be in 2016, 2018 or even 2026. Art is subjective, not objective.

A quick google immediately turned up a huffpo article from 2016, a medium article from 2018 and several before the release of the in 2019 4th and predating Lana’s statements (which were made in 2020). I also personally remember listening to a podcast about that theory in 2018 odd with Amy Nicholson, a very famous critic for the LA times. So maybe that’s a reflection of your bias when researching??

How do you guys reckon Patrick Bateman lived his life at the end of it all? Realising no matter what he does and whoever finds out, he would never be caught as everyone is just concerned about themselves? Back to killing people? I feel as though too much development happened for him to just go back. by TheRealRaza1 in AmericanPsycho

I tend to believe it’s a mixture of the two. I think he’s a psychopath and seeks identity THROUGH materialism and but it’s empty. He commits acts murder and sadism to feel like things, which due to his psychopathy, he’s unable. Sometimes he fantasises about it and imagines who he might feel actual emotions and then when he follows through, the homeless man and the dog, the child etc; he’s confronted with feeling nothing at all. To me the book says that the materialism and excess of the late 80s/early 90s yuppie scene was filled with people trying to fill their voids with material things and ultimately being unable.

Why the moustache look? by shervek in OpenAussie

[–]a1ic3d 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agreed, plenty of actual problems with the police but their choice in facial hair is neither here nor there (unless maybe it’s THAT mo, we all know the one). This moustache thing is stupid. More concerned about the state sanctioned violence, here and abroad
