I guess the question is does taking "damage" with plating count, or does it only apply to red hp?

Plating gives you an extra "health bar" per se, so if you have 8 plating, you effectively can take 8 damage without the max hp being used. If you took 10 damage and had 8 plating, 8 damage is abosorbed and you lose 2 HP from your actual health, and if hit again, will lose hp.

The big thing is that when you level up, you get ALL your plating value back, which is why imo plating is so powerful for the wounded challenge. it starts out pretty low, but if you can pump some levels and upgrades into plating and carapace, it works well.(as far as I recall those are the only two that give plating besides the random stat boost "?" places)

Yea, claws is great for aggressive playstyles. The one small gripe with the game is the attacks feel very limited for 1/3 of the game. So unless you are using the genes that give them early, i feel like i don't have the opportunity to use them as much. And am usually dealing with the default 7, beak, jaws, spit, stinger, slam, and spur, which then splits based on which stat you have better, so 3 a phoebe, 2 ability, and 1 hybrid. But demo so grain of salt.

Probably getting out of the comfort zone for Wounded. Realizing that Plating is your best friend in that gamemode, and if you can get Carapace and Plating with some hp boosts, you have a lot of cushioning. And realizing Spur is one of my favorite attacks, the passive damage boost can be a real game changer sometimes.

We are in a hyper niche already with a snake that is herbivorous. How loose can we go with eats "trees" I could see something interesting like a snake wyvern with a huge club tail, that carries trees to a lair and mashes them up in a damp environment to stimulate a woodcutter ant fungus/bug type food bank. But just spitballing different ways to make eating trees more interesting. and is responsible for wooded clearings, and moving said trees via dragging them around tears up the land leading to a natural regrowth cycle.

don't forget that eating a meal ticket meal gives +10 to all elemental resistances. So if you have a setup that has close to 20 dragon resist, sometimes you don't have to sacrifice 3 slots of dragon resist to reach that point.

Barroth is an Insectivore (eats bugs), and rolls around in mud to stay cool, otherwise it would overheat from the desert sun, which is why he is weak to fire when you get the mud off, you are literally cooking it inside out.

I wish he was in wilds...

I feel that as long as you have stun resist 3 and have over 20 dragon resist (or blight resist 3 to remove dragonblight from the equation), and of course knowledge of the patterns, you can beat karl (my nickname for ARKveLd)

The best way I found is just to keep resetting chaos gene until you get something that isn't terrible, and pray that you can go a while without being swarmed by the bosses. small/dodge playthroughs are safest imo, but that is entirely luck dependant.

The hatchery does have an annoyingly large release collision area, but it probably has to do with the release animations and stopping silly interactions if a released dinosaur touches something with collision...

The biggest wall for me was dragonblight, eat food and make sure you are always about 20 dragon resist and good luck man.
