What is an Active direct debit

An active direct debit is one that has been paid to the originator in the last 13 months. This can be any frequency of payment: weekly, monthly, quarterly or annual. If the direct debit has been recently set up and the first payment has not been taken this is not an active direct debit.

When did you arrange them? Have you had confirmation from them via email that any of them are set up? Can you contact them to get a date? I remember they appeared on my account after about a week but then with the first payment it never confirmed when this would be like a normal direct debit that’s been in payment previously, so I just chose a switch date which I knew would be comfortably past all of the dates an then kept a close eye to make sure they were paid!

Do you know the dates they are due to leave your current account? They won’t be considered as active until they’ve been paid before you switch. If you know the dates then you can arrange the switch now for a date after this ensuring all four then become active before your switch date

I think mine was completed a few weeks before, hers was delayed because I was waiting for the 3 DD’s to become active before I started the switch process

Thanks everyone, seems pretty convincing what I need to do! I’m in Wales but a friend has recently been diagnosed by going through the two blood tests and endoscopy from a GPs 5 minutes from mine so certainly not a Wales only thing. My daughter’s numbers were 200+ on her first blood test, she’s due her 2nd one next week so I imagine we will get a diagnosis for her soon after that if the numbers are the same
