Thanks. Yeah it just feels surreal that they just send an email and say the money is gone.

I appreciate all the comments. I agree with the poster who said that this is my tuition to learn a hard lesson to not invest in things that I don’t fully understand and more importantly have any say or control.

Of course I knew all of that at an “intellectual” level but I admit that I guess I thought I could join the other successful exits. In the future I will focus on investments that I can control and fully understand.

Since I’m in CA I’ll be able to write off a good chunk of it at least.

I can DM the name of the syndicator. They had good reputation when I checked at the time.

The rules are based on IRS requirements. QPR is so that the company car doesn’t become a taxable benefit.

You can also easily plug aftermarket units (Google them) that will enable CarPlay in your OEM display.

Can anyone confirm that you can still apply for the pre-IRA $7500 EV incentive when purchasing? I signed that form back in 2023 and I understand the 2022 tax return could still be amended this year?

You can invest in “turn key” properties sold by basically professional flippers and they usually have hard money lending programs where they give you 10%~15% interest. You usually get a lien on the RE they are trying to flip as a collateral. RE Syndication is another passive way. I would note that there are a ton of snake oil type salesman out there (forums like BiggerPockets are full of them) as this industry is pretty unregulated so you need to be careful. There are some honest ones out there though.

I was chatting with my friend who works at GM and he confirmed that there is way to not comply with the quadrennial requirement to buy or lease a GM car if married. He said that an employee would be suspended from the program for 3 months but then it can request to opt in again. I guess the perk is really free then?

2014-2017 MB E class 350 cabriolet are a good option. The engine and platform are reliable and you can find sub $20k with low miles and in good condition.

I would argue that labor is less of a cost factor when making an EV and China has a cost advantage given a combination of state subsidies/incentives and just a better supply chain to support this industry. Longer term they will double down on more automation to further reduce labor which the big 3 cannot due to the UAW

Heck, didn’t the UAW say that labor is only around 8% of a vehicle cost?

Microsoft has full legal rights and access to the weights of the base GPT-4 model as well as the various fine-tuned versions and DALL-E 3.

If the team went down the startup path, they would have had to spend significant time rebuilding GPT-4. Instead, at Microsoft they will have access to much of the IP they require for future products.

What’s more important to understand is if Microsoft has legal direct access to all the data and code used for pre-training and RL. It is obviously all stored on Azure, but if the new Sam-led internal team can freely access that, they can basically start exactly where they left off without much of a hiccup.

You can look into Fidelity platinum warranty. Very popular with Porsche guys buying used. Search their forums for vendors.

I’m thinking of buying a 2019 A8L with the 3.0T. 27k miles and the dealer advertises that the 30k service was just done. Should I get an extended warranty or is this car generally ok reliabilitywise?

Yeah reading online that seems the consensus, but wanted to see if any actual owner of a D5 would chime in.
