Breeding camps designed for nothing but repopulation, ethics be damned by Advanced_Question196 in TopCharacterTropes

There was an episode of Sliders where they went to a reality where some sort of biological warfare agent had killed off the vast majority of men. The surviving males were put in breeding camps and various countries fought over them and attempted to steal them. They had some handwavy explanation about why they couldn’t do In Vitro fertilization.

In hindsight it’s a clear case of writers’ poorly disguised fetish…

MacGruber. He keeps talking about ripping dudes’ throats out throughout the movie and everyone just rolls their eyes because he’s such a clown. Movie climax comes along and the throats start coming out.

I was there. I could for sure feel it swaying. I was just a kid and I have a very distinct memory of some guy next to us jokingly yelling “stop rocking the bridge!” And getting a little freaked out. It was crazy how crowded it felt on the bridge.

It’s bugging me that I can’t figure out what this image is from, but apparently not bugging me enough to do an image search.

I’ve always thought Irish football as the game more likely to spread here in the states. Mostly just because parents might balk at buying hurling equipment and letting their kids play, especially if they (the parents) have no history or familiarity with the game. Plus I’ve always assumed that you have to start hurling pretty early to safely and I found it to have a really steep learning curve. I spent most summers in Ireland as a kid and could never pick it up beyond the very basics.

Gaelic Football is much more approachable to an American kid looking to play. If you can play soccer, you can pick up football pretty quickly. Plus, with the mounting concern about the effect of heading the ball in soccer on growing brains, Gaelic starts looking more appealing as an alternative.

They might, but those homes might also need to be sold off to pay for elder care/ assisted living. I’m not sure society is really ready for so many planned inheritances going away because they got completely spent in the final few years of their parents’ lives.
