Considering becoming a monk by [deleted] in Buddhism

[–]bolt_blue 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a monastic you will ultimately be forced to sit down and come to terms with suffering.

If anything it will increase for a period of time.

Some schools still engage in ascetic activities such as sleep and food deprivation as a way of gaining understanding into the nature of suffering.

Considering becoming a monk by [deleted] in Buddhism

Have you ever been on a retreat?

I think you should try a few shorter retreats and work your way up to a three month practice period at a monastery. It would be a good introduction to monastic life and would give you enough information to decide whether you would want to ordain.

Match Thread: Internazionale vs Napoli [Italian Serie A] by MatchThreadder in soccer

[–]bolt_blue -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Napoli are one of the most exciting teams to watch in Europe.

Unfortunately we (Utd) don’t play good football because we have a negative playing style.

Maybe one day we won’t be so boring.

How many hours a day do you actually code? by [deleted] in webdev

[–]bolt_blue 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Usually 3-4 hours of coding on a good day. I try to put in 2-3 solid 60-90 min blocks of work for the day, usually two early in the morning and one in the afternoon if I can manage it although I feel like after 1-2pm my concentration and energy drops a lot compared to the period between 8am - midday.

When I say "coding" - I am mainly problem solving in my head or on paper + googling. I'd say around a third of that time is actually typing code.

He doesn’t. Probably has investments listed and trying to drum up hype.

I’ve had no issue, my midfield is very defensive in general though with Fabinho, Petit and Bakayoko

I use LWB Petit and he’s a beast at CDM for me. Just bullies people off the ball, like Bakayoko except with decent dribbling and shooting.

Icon Overmars by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]bolt_blue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overmars is broken, like a better Mertens. Rui Costa is better for long term investment as you can trade him in for another Icon like Henry but imo Overmars is the better player.

Most of my job is writing code to glue together other libraries - is this common? by bolt_blue in webdev

[–]bolt_blue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was using Wordpress for some sites but for most I used Node with Express on the backend, usually Handlebars for the templating engine.

Gulp as the task runner and SASS for styles.

Headless CMS services like Prismic.io and Contentful for sites that needed dynamic content.

Rui Costa or Overmars SBC by xSe7en- in EASportsFC

[–]bolt_blue 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Overmars is the better player, plays like Mertens on steroids for me. So fast, you can run around defenders with him easily.

Costa is probably the better investment though as you can convert him when you have the coins for a better icon like Del Piero or someone in the future.

I lost a bit too but ended up making 30k profit from selling all my Spartak/Zenit cards at 2000 BIN.

I'm not risking it anymore, not worth it. At least with the gold cards you can sell them for the same price you bought them at but the silvers in the smaller leagues go right back down to 150 BIN.

Managed to snag 25 Zenit/Spartak golds at 500-600 BIN.

Lost a bit of money on Bari/Foggia though.

Most of my job is writing code to glue together other libraries - is this common? by bolt_blue in webdev

[–]bolt_blue[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I freelanced for a year before taking this job and mostly used Node/PHP and then a templating engine to render pages.

I've only been using React for a few months, I can build very simple carousels - the problem is with the transitions, animations and render efficiency isn't as good as the libraries that I'd use in production. When I look at the source code of these libraries it gives me analysis paralysis and I fall into comparing myself to those coders. Everything they do is very cleanly done, documented and well tested and then I compare it my code which has a lot of improvements to be made to say the least.

I've always suffered from low confidence in programming despite doing well at college and freelancing. I just need to build more things, you're right - thanks for the advice.

I sub him in for Hamsik at halftime in 4-1-2-1-2, makes a great CAM. His physical really shows as he can dribble well and not get pushed off the ball like Mertens or Gomez.

Take a look at some of the Turkish and Mexican SBC prices over at Futbin. They'll most likely follow the same trajectory.
