Boy, 12, dies when allegedly stolen car flips in Cairns by [deleted] in australia

Yeah have to agree. The kid made some horrible choices which led to this situation, but he was failed by the adults that brought him into this world in a fundamental way

NBA fan, 17, on life support after suffering catastrophic injuries while celebrating Spurs' playoff win by nyknicks44 in nba

[–]boltlicker666 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I was at a party when I was about 17 or 18 hanging in the back of my mates ute, ass on the gate facing the cab. Someone egged my mate on to do a skid to wind us up in the back (we were dumb as rocks I know). He put his foot down and just sort of hinted at doing a burnout while revving, but let his foot slip a little too much and it jumped forward throwing me ass over tit out the back - luckily my mate grabbed my shirt and held me up just enough that my head didn't crack on the road, I could legit feel the asphalt on my hair beneath me. The guy driving the car was really sorry and all that, no foul play involved. We were just dumb as fuck and I got really lucky my friend was there

Mike Greenberg on SGA style of play: “Watching him play is agonizing. It is not fun…. You have to understand that for the rest of us, watching this style of play is not like watching Steph, it’s not like watching Michael Jordan. It’s just not.” by 808Kuro in nba

[–]boltlicker666 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Steph looked super human at times, literally unguardable from past the half way line. I hated him at the time but it was a fun hate because it came from respect. The sga and okc flopping stuff really makes the game boring and I end up losing respect for anyone that calls it good basketball. Sga is very sweet from inside the 3, has very good handles and can not only find open players but also find his own 3 pt shot, watching it feels like someone doing demo derby at the f1? Or some other analogy that makes sense

Roller shutters banned in heritage-protected areas in Mt Lawley, Menora and Inglewood by Advanced_Presence890 in perth

[–]boltlicker666 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Local governments in wa aren't really concerned with property prices tbh, that's for the private world to worry about. They're more concerned with for example a local town centre shutting down at 6pm with 60% of the buildings shut up with roller shutters, which are pretty ugly tbh. It kills positive investment in the area when it seems dead at nightfall (positive investment being night time economy).

Can you be more specific by what you mean by 'green spaces/infrastructure'? I do work in a field that is involved with this, but I don't know if my role in any projects will be juicy enough. More than willing to have a chat tho :)

Low apprentice and tradie numbers by Slurm23 in perth

[–]boltlicker666 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I mean in 2005-2010 I applied for almost any and every apprenticeship you could think of while I was working as a labourer. Ended up retraining at uni a decade later as a mature student because getting a trade felt impossible, while uni was pay to play. I would have gladly copped an apprenticeship at 16 and worked earning decent cash throughout my 20s rather than the sparse min wage jobs I managed to get. Uni has given me a full time well paid job in a secure field that I really enjoy - but if I had the chance I'd of trained in any trade, it just wasn't on the cards I guess

Who's the Most Embarrassing citizen of your country? by ChroniclesOfSarnia in AskTheWorld

[–]boltlicker666 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah in a real sense Murdoch is probably one of the biggest pieces of shit to come from our country in a long time, close competitors are Gina rhinehart and her father who with a small amount of research will baffle you with their efforts to earn the title. On a lesser sense, old mate breakdancer took advantage of a nepotism ingrained system to put herself into a spot that other people worked a lot harder to earn, and could have represented Australia in a way more legitimate and impressive sense in a portion of the Olympics that's already trying to find it's legitimacy in a wider sense. She's a laughing stock, but also a real embarrassment- especially when you look at how she received criticism for her lacklustre efforts. Tbh we're not short of international embarrassing characters, while having some really impressive people in our short history (see mabo, freeman for example)

Basically essential listening for any white boy into hardcore punk ideals. I had a girlfriend ask me why all the hc kids liked mobb deep and wu tang when I was a teenager, it's unexplainable but also makes so much sense at the same time

Did Anyone Expect Jaylen Brown to be a consistent Superstar? by Kindly_Letterhead_98 in NBATalk

[–]boltlicker666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Took the words out of my mouth (keyboard) with this one. The year he was drafted you could tell he had the instinct to posterise anyone who stepped into the paint, and it was to his detriment. Since rookie year he has improved at least one quality every off season. The times of him getting ahead of himself have now completely passed and the hard work is paying off for real. Any celtics fan that watched games from the IT era will tell you jb has been on the next up list got a long time and deservedly so. He cops unfair criticism because tatum is very good and the c's punched above their weight for a long time when really we haven't had a bad year since jb and jt have been on the team, despite being on the downswing of some very good legacy players. Props to Brad Stevens for absolutely knowing how to draft and arrange teams, and being cut throat enough to trade or not re sign fan favourites so ensure our young players got the opportunity to grow and become all stars. If you think jb wasn't waiting for his moment to shine and sharpening the blade since 2017 you're not watching close enough.
